I have just be diagnosed for the 4th or 5th time as bipolar type 2. The first time I was diagnosed with it I was 12, I am now 23. I took medications from the ages of 12-18, but as soon as I turned 18 and had a choice, I chose to not accept or believe the fact and stopped taking anything. I've been struggling a lot in the past 5 years and just recently decided to accept the fact and I started meds again. I'm reading a lot about alternative theories and alternatives to medicine and its all really interesting. I just want to start a discussion with a group about it. I hope to get many replies. much love, camila

Welcome to PC,
I must say from RL experience with Bipolar, that a true Bipolar cannot really be treated without some sort of mood stabilizer.
There always is some "alternatives" coming up, but the REAL treatment, unfortunately requires a psychiatric evaluation (maybe 2nd opinions or more) to truly determine the real DX and then after the DX is made, one should start some treatment plan.
It would be fantastic if all these "alternatives" such as herbals, and the power of positive thinking works, but I have yet to hear of a person with a real DX ever remaining stable, I'm not saying conventional stuff always works, but there is a much better chance overall.
Just my opinion of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion and opportunites to explore other options.
Sometimes not all pdoc's are created equal, and it might take a few tries with a different pdoc(s) before finding one who is reputable and devoted to his field, so don't lose faith, don't give up, things can work out in time. Hope your experience at PC will be of some help to you.
Please take care,
DE
