I want to know how some idiot road users obtain a licence to operate a motor vehicle.

No really, I do.

I don't fool myself that I am a 'perfect driver'. But some acts of idiocy are just ... inexcusable.

Road Rage ...

My pet peeve this morning was the driver of a white Subaru with a Learner identification thing who appeared completely unaware that:

a) A person selects ONE lane to drive in, rather than drive in the middle of TWO;

b) When one decides to change lanes, one uses one's indicator. Yes, that flashy little light that lets other drivers KNOW WHERE THE FREAK YOU ARE GOING.

Ahh I just needed a little rant, the last thing I needed this morning was someone ramming into my poor little Flossie.

I beeped. I don't yell and scream (or like my old flatmate, jump out of the car, swear at the driver, then inform them he is going to kick their car and then kick them :>).

But I do beep ...

You?

Listen to Yoga music while driving and do deep breathing exercises-it's helped me get over the idiot drivers.
I'm sure you've heard-You cannot change other people's behavior, you can only change your reaction to it.
What's a flossie?

Yea ... it's just blatently dangerous though you know?

They are the type of people who will drive full tilt through a roundabout or bust a red light and cause something tragic.

A Flossie is the name of my car ... it is a hiphop name for 'hoe' ... hehe.

People yacking or even arguing with who they are talking to on their cell phone are the worst, they are oblivious of those around them, straddling the line, swerving side to side,I've even seen a few nearly drive off the road, LOL!!!!
Others that tick me off are the ones tailgating, wanting to do 80 to 90MPH in a 55MPH, so then knowing when cops are or aren't around (radar detector) I'll get up to about 70 or 75MPH, not fast enough for the "rager" then change lanes to let him or her go,and then they are right behind you, GRrrrr!!
I feel people should go under some psychological screening for their anger/tolerance levels before being issued a driver's license, after all it's as good as a weapon in the wrong hands, I've seen so many bad accidents, some fatal.
The drivers of many cars are dangerous to the public.
My rant

Another rant, ladies talking on their cells in public bathroom, I find it offensive when I'm using the bathroom, and a person in the stall next to mine is yacking away, and loudly too!!! It just feels weird.
Done ranting. Road Rage ...

this might not be the best place to advocate a psychological screening in order to drive.....some people are very laid back until they get behind the wheel. Personally i just let them go and dont pay any attention to them. If someone is drifting into my lane ill bang the horn, other wise i just watch out for what others are doing and fall back and let them go far on if they are swerving in and out of traffic or popping wheelies on a rice rocket. I figure somewhere down some road i will be passing them anyway when they inevitably crash.

speaking ot road rage i just read an article that gave rating of which state was the worst for road rage

MIAMI - For the second straight year, rude Miami drivers have earned the city the title of worst road rage in a survey released Tuesday.

Miami motorists said they saw other drivers slam on their brakes, run red lights and talk on cell phones, according to AutoVantage, a Connecticut-based automobile membership club offering travel services and roadside assistance.

Other cities near the top of the rude drivers list were New York, Boston, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.

South Miami resident Erik Pinto told The Associated Press he's probably seen every bad driving habit on Miami's roads.

"You don't want to know what I've seen," Pinto said. "I've seen everything. I'm from L.A., and we don't see the crazy drivers that you see here."

Portland, Ore., drivers were the least likely of the cities to see other motorists tailgating on the roadways, and St. Louis motorists were the least likely to swear at another driver, the survey found.

Minneapolis-St. Paul was rated the most courteous city in 2006 but slipped to the middle of the list this year.

The most frequent cause of road rage cited in the survey was impatient motorists. Drivers also cited poor driving in fast lanes and driving while stressed, frustrated or angry.

"The best piece of advice is to take a deep breath. Slow down, be aware and be careful," AutoVantage spokesman Todd Smith said, adding the aim of the survey is to increase driver safety across the nation.

More than 2,500 drivers who regularly commute in 25 major metropolitan areas were asked to rate road rage and rude driving in telephone surveys between January and March. The survey was conducted by Prince Market Research has a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.

The list, ranked from those reporting the most incidents of road rage to the fewest:

1. Miami

2. New York

3. Boston

4. Los Angeles

5. Washington, D.C.

6. Phoenix

7. Chicago

8. Sacramento, Calif.

9. Philadelphia

10. San Francisco

11. Houston

12. Atlanta

13. Detroit

14. Minneapolis-St. Paul

15. Baltimore

16. Tampa, Fla.

17. San Diego

18. Cincinnati

19. Cleveland

20. Denver

21. Dallas-Ft. Worth

22. St. Louis

23. Seattle-Tacoma

24. Pittsburgh

25. Portland, Ore.

I saw a tee shirt the other day that made me laugh. I'm sure I'm not quoting it exactly, but it said something like:
Forget world peace (or it might have been whirled peas). Visualize using a left turn signal.

While I don't "do" road rage... I do become somewhat concerned and upset when someone using their phone drives near my car. I just read how research has declared that talking on the cell phone while driving, whether with a hands-free device or not, is the same as driving DRUNK!

Put the thing down, away for later...or pull off the road, please. (for anyone who used to do this horrible thing!)

You are right, it is freakn dangerous.

There are suggestions of fine systems like for not wearing seatbelts, here, but dunno what will happen. I'd support it.

I work at a school crossing called a lollypop lady here in Australia. The sort of rage they have is being annoyed if pedestrians don't cross fast enough for them. Road Rage ... they even try to run me down.
they say stupid things like "Just do your job" duh...that is my job to make sure they don't run down anybody. We have a little girl here in Sydney that was burnt and then later run down on a crossing in her pram.....Sophie Delizio is her name. I feel like I want to protect all those precious lil ones. and even me. This is my rant... Road Rage ... Road Rage ... glad to have a space to say these things. thanks to you all.

Yea I have read about Sophie ... how much bad stuff can happen to one little girl :/

I should clarify, when I say I get 'road rage' it's only usually if I get cut off or something that could be dangerous ... and I only beep at them.

So many accidents are preventable and people who are texting or applying their lippy should be slapped.
