Today, I finally cleaned up my house. It makes me feel so much better. The cluttered was like my mind. Now, I feel more relaxed because it's clean.

Yay! That's a great accomplishment! I live in a great deal of clutter and I'm certain it worsens my anxiety considerably. I'm hoping to get most of the clutter out this summer.

Yeah. It does because it makes you feel accomplished and its also a good for a excise and getting clean air circulating into the home. I personally wash dishes as a stress relief. I wish wish I knew what to do with my bedroom :/

I'd say if start small then build up to bigger tasks and if you have bad days, just start small again.

I keep my house neat and tidy but every Friday do a proper housework with dusting and vacuuming and washing of floors etc. I would go out of my mind if my house were a constant mess. I'm forever washing dishes. And I get mad when my family leave water droplets on the sink.

I gave up on trying to keep a clean house because my wife is such a messy, slob. I had a full time job just cleaning up after her let alone do any regular cleaning. She is also a pack rat and semi-hoarder so you can imagine what our place is like.
I have been trying for 10 years to get her to improve her cleanliness and I am near to walking out just because of this issue. So I either learn to live like a pig, leave, or hire a full time home cleaner , which of course I can't afford.

Long Live Clean People!

My mom always says 'A tidy home is a tidy mind'. I love to clean and get rather excited about it when I have the opportunity. It really is cathartic!

We're moving in the Fall which means we have to get through 10 years of clutter in order to get ready. As we've been working on this project I've noticed that it has been a stress release.

Absolutely. I keep my home very clean and it feels so much better than when I lived with husband or others who were messy slobs.

Oh, I agree. My son and stepdaughter are both slobs and hardly ever clean their rooms. My stepdaughter is worse. At 14 she has absolutely no self pride.

My house when I was working looked like a model home & I was able to afford weekly house cleaning & I always straightened up so that she could clean......but then I lost my career & was at home dealing with anxiety. No longer could afford a house keeper but then again, I was home & could do it. It started off that I was cleaning but then the longer I was at home, my H would come home & just dump his stuff whereever...like he was just blowing off what I had trained him to do for so many years....I started to get angry at him because he didn't listen to what I was telling him about the fact that I wasn't his house keeper.....finally got so angry I quit doing anything & I totally withdrew from everything.

When I left him & got into my new farm 2100 miles away & really didn't have even any furniture...I knew if I kept ahead of it all, I wouldn't get behind & it wouldn't get cluttered....but the house was huge & it was only me & with 7 dogs.....it was impossible to keep up. Then I fractured my back & couldn't even pick up anything more than 5 pounds for 6 months......so everything just ended up where it ended up. I've been trying to catch up every since....& since I haul my own trash to the dump along with all the recycling...it doesn't help with the clutter. I need to focus on one room at a time, but some how I keep trying to keep what I have cleaned clean & it's hard to find more time than that in my life to get anything MORE accomplished.

Honestly I love clean & I hate the mess that I'm surrounded by....but it's feeling impossible to accomplish especially when I have so many down days.....had major oral surgery the end of March & I still haven't recovered my energy & it's the lacking energy that is getting to me along with all the fields that need mowed during the summer. Just more than one person can keep up with when there is no money to hire anything done.

Yes! I used to be a slob, but I know find that a lot of junk around and dirty dishes etc make me more anxious, afraid of going back to the junk garbage pit our last place turned into. I just wish my son would get it. I feel like a maid, only with out a paycheck.

He's 22 and quite capable, just lazy.

My place is a constant mess. We live in a very small apartment, with a lot of stuff. We have a (full) storage unit, all nice and organized, but have a bunch of random junk around. This is our... fourth apartment together (married 5 1/2 years/living together 6). And for some reason, the junk winds up back with us. Surrounded by it. It's mainly boxes and totes full of random items that need to be sorted through. It's like we've never fully unpacked. He and I both are exhausted most days from our jobs, physical ailments, psychological ailments, and well, we're just plain lazy.

Seeing all of this crap around makes me want to scream. I needneedneed to get on it! Fast! I'm home after a recent inpatient psych hospital stint, eight days. I'm trying to make changes because I love a clean home and feel so much better when I look around and see it!

My wife wants to turn our home into a storage unit so we can save the $100 storage unit rental fee.

I give up...
