I got a call today at 3 p.m. at school from a neighbor who had both my dogs, the Samoyed and new Golden puppy.
I got them both in my car on the way home, and then did a walk-around my fence. Thanks to the newfound skills of the Golden, they have discovered digging out under the privacy fence...The Samoyed never did this before, and I've had her for 8 years.
In problem-solving mode, my first solution was to hire my handyman to buy and install cinder blocks (very unattractive) around the perimeter of the fencing, but now have decided I can purchase and install the electric shock wire myself. The farm supply store sells 500 feet of it for $159...an expense I can ill afford right now, but if it teaches the dogs to stay away from digging out, it will be worth it.
Any other suggestions will be welcome!
Patty

Yes, Pickle, they ARE bad! But the presence of the new pup has enlivened the Samoyed so much, and they play and play together, and both are so happy. I must find a solution to this escape problem! I don't like the idea of the shock collars, but must teach them to stay away from digging out!

Oh, my, Pat,

$55 would be much better than
$159.
Wonder where I could find this locally in WV?

where is the nearest feedstore or co-operative that sells cattle and horse supplies? most of those stores carry pet aids. i give my dogs and cats all of their shots, except rabies, and i get it all at the feedstore. at about 1/10 of the cost.

here, in my town, the set is $55 and i'll call them to ask the brand name. i suspect we can google it......oh......it's 6 p.m. they roll the sidewalks up here at 4:30.

well, i'll just google and see what i can find for you. be back in a shake of a lamb's tail!! oxoxox pat
