self care... it's so hard for a lot of us. a lot of us feel we don't deserve it, or we can't bring ourselves to see the point

so this thread exists to post something you did today to care for yourself. (maybe something really little, but something)

today i wore a diffrent shirt.

that's my self care act of the day

Thanks for this thread. Over the past few months, I was emerging from a long depression and working to put my self-care habits back in place. They are so important, for me at least, in moving towards good mental health.

My mood has started trying persistently to head downhill again during the last month. One of the areas being affected is self-care. I'm skipping doing things on some days and just finding it more difficult in general to see how important self-care is.

I did make breakfast and coffee today and brush my teeth. That's about all I've done so far, and it's noon.

Great topic for a thread!

I over did it yesterday working in the yard. Today I put a heat pack on some sore muscles. Am also going to spend the day being quiet.

I took my meds and worked on a hobby to keep my mind and body occupied.

I stayed in bed physically ill and didn't berate myself for being lazy or unproductive. I took the time to be sick and take care of myself.

Reminded myself to take more breaks from the computer, and to drink more water.

I exercised.

I saved my pennies and bought a recumbent stationary bicycle, for joining a gym wasn't an option due to anxiety.

I has a stroke this past October, and about 6 weeks later my doctor gave me the okay to start an exercise regimen. I started slow, but have gradually built up the intensity.

Exercise has benefited my mental health more than my physical health.

I recommend it, but be sure to get your internist's permission before beginning an exercise regimen.

Increased to 10 minute breaks, only giving myself 5 minutes of computer time in between, because I spend way too much time on the computer. I basically just walk around my room, while listening to music. It does help.

Crawled out of bed and surrendered to the Universe'e plan. Took a shower and now I am in peaceful state with Shambala Incense and Flute music.

Cleaned my room, dusted off my desk, put away my clothes, decided I wasn't going to sit in bed all day and so I sat on my desk, and started to work on homework. This is what I wanted to do for awhile now but never had enough motivation. Today I realized the life I was living didn't equate to a happy life and anyone who lived the way I did wouldn't have been happy. So from now on, I want to try being more productive and get things done and stay on top of my tasks I also recently went to the gym in 2 months

Took time to eat lunch away from my desk, despite my original plan to work while I ate.
