I, too, am going to borrow Wantto's words, because I couldn't possibly express my feelings better.

Personally, to me, I wouldn't care if you were a high school dropout. I'm so thankful for the work you've done and the caring and patience you've shown to all of us here at Psych Central. I don't know much about other sites, but in my search to find a home, this one was found to be the best for me.

Thank you, Doc.

Jan

I'm sorry this is happening to you, Doc. It's petty and mean and undeserved. I certainly am grateful for what you do here and what you have done by providing PC as another means of helping people heal.

If I can help defend against this malicious attack, please let me know.

Why is it when DocJohn tries to stand up for himself and all the good he does here, people still wish to argue and fight over something that is finished?

This IS DocJohn's website/forum, not Wylie's. If someone doesn't like how things are run here, then they are as free to leave as they were to join. No questions asked, no judegements made. It is what it is.

We are all entitled to our own opinions, but please, stop beating a dead horse! Let's be civil and judgement free.

I don't understand why everyone has to argue all the time anymore. I remember doc's old site and how loving it was back then. even here up until a few months ago. now it appears that is all that happens anymore and for me I just hurt over all of it. I see people against each other and others that just antagonise others. it is very sad. I hope it can all be worked out very soon. I just hope it happens soon because if it doesn't I won't stick around to see it continue. I love everyone here.

New here, but I was on the old site, too, way back.

Doc John has always been very straightforward and professional in his behavior, imo. This attack strikes me as being petty and vindictive, which reflects poorly on the attacker and not on Doc John (who shouldn't feel the need to defend himself too much).

Speaking as a member :removes mod title:

I've seen PC flow from peaceful to turmoil back to peaceful and back to turmoil time and time again, just like IRL with large groups of people.

I have no doubt that we'll move into peaceful again, just like we always do, and then that too shall pass and turmoil will happen again. Nothing is ever completely perfect unfortunately. The fact that we can grow and become stronger through anything is what I find important.

I am apalled at what has taken place with DocJohn. I can't say it any better than the quote about the high school dropout. Clarification on my professional background This community has saved my life COUNTLESS times since I joined in '04. I have absolutely no doubt that there is no way I'd be where I am today had I not found PC.

I'm at a loss for further words to express my gratitude. When gratitude is bursting out of my heart, all words are small....I can't even begin to express how grateful I am to DocJohn, the mod/admin team, and EVERY single member here......I learn something from everyone and every experience as long as I can open my mind and my heart.

This too shall pass....and PC will be ok.....and so will DocJohn......he has an army of support that cannot be broken.

bebop: I was at the one hosted out of Columbus(/Dublin), Ohio... can't remember the company name, but it was prior to the Coop one. Was that wbs? I went by the name Wildideaz back then.

Edit: I think it was called Mentalhelp.net, or something like that. This was awhile ago, maybe back in the 90s or early 2000s.

(quick reply)

I do not know much about what happened or who Wylie is... but I support DocJohn and all that he has done here. I am thankful to have such a wonderfully informative site with a fantastic support team to come to..... In the two yrs that I have been a member, I have NEVER seen a rude, disrespectful or distasteful comment from DocJohn, not once! I am sorry that you have been under attack DocJohn, and I hope that it comes to a hault real soon! What you do here has been a saving grace for so many people, including me... THANK YOU!!!

John - You already know I've a supporter since PsychCentral was just a twinkle in your eye - and before that elsewhere.

I can't find words to say how much you've helped me over the years both personally and professionally. I try to model your patience with people.....although I frequently fail in my attempts!

I hope the negativity passes soon.

And ya know, I've got your back!

When I came here I was looking for a support community and that is what I found; a community. One that now has 17947 registered members. That provides me the possibility of 17947 responses to something I post. I have found more support here than I could ever imagine not from one individual but from the community at large. That was how I understood the site was run; not as an individual psychologist to client but a support community from members.

Have we lost sight of the intent of the site? Have we let ourselves become enmeshed in credentials of an individual that has never proclaimed to be any more than he is? He has provided us a wonderful site that we can support each other. That is what I found when I came here and forsee happening for a long time. I for one will support this site as is to anyone or any organization.

DocJohn thank you for all the hard work you have put in to providing us this site where all the members can support each other. I know I have gone through some pretty rough times and this site has helped me through them. Without DocJohn the site would not exist but without the members it would not sustain itself.

Thank you all very much for your continued support and kind words, it means a lot to read these replies and know that for most of the people here, this community serves the purpose for which it was created -- to provide a safe place for people to support one another with their emotional and mental health needs.

Best,
DocJohn

My thoughts exactly Biopolar Bear....I have been pretty quiet thru this whole thing even though I encountered Dr. Wylie recently in chat. I came to this site for support and understanding from other people who have or are going through the same thing I am. I never expected this site to take the place of a real life professional for me. Yes Doc John built this site...he maintains this site...he hosts a weekly chat....answers questions to the best of his abilities....but the people here that are members are the core of this site built on the foundation that Doc John has created. Without caring, understanding, loving members here this site would not exist. I for one am grateful to Doc John for creating this site....but I am especially grateful for the friendships, advice, understanding, and love that the members share with me.
THANK YOU ALL!!!

I don't know what Wylie said about docjohn, but I have appreciated docjohn's insight, caring & honesty. He doesn't say he is right all the time. When he answers he is always careful to recommend you see your provider before making any drastic changes such as stopping taking meds.

I even got a PM from him when I first joined & that was a nice welcome. With all the members here & he PMed me meant a lot to me about how caring he was & he represented the site well.

As far as Wylie, I did see some of his posts & was surprised about how mean they sounded & argumentative. He always seemed to be arrogant & believed his opinion was always right. He didn't seem to be very caring nor did he take the precausions of stating his posts were his opinions & that they shouldn't be taken above the advice of the doc the person was seeing.--Suzy

First let me say, and echo what's been said by others.....

This is a wonderful site Doc John and thank you!

I was also aware of Scott Wylie's problms with the two wbsites in the "Student Doctor Network". His stories there followed the same MO as this current problems with this site. He was rude, condensending and sarcastic...(sounds farmiliar doesn't it). And after he was kicked off the sites, he came back as different members just to cause problems....they even had to post a warning that a past member was doing that and to please report any posts that were suspect.

I did have problems with some of his posts on this site and even spoke to one of the mods at one point. But after followig his pattern of behaviour on the other sites I knew that if he continued here he would eventually cross the line and get himself booted from here as well....unfortunately, I didn't think he would follow his MO from the other sites and try to sabotage this site and people as well Clarification on my professional background......

I hope that Scott will lurk on this site and get the help he needs too. This i a wonderfull web site for that.....

Thank you doc john for all that you do~!!!

That's very gracious, Danialla. Given the pattern of behavior we've seen and others have described, there's clearly something going on with him, though he may not agree.

Thanks to Doc John and to all here who contribute to a friendly, helpful, and dynamic community.
