I haven't experienced something like that...I would imagine that it is a bit unsettling?

You mention a violent dream...is it possible that during that you hit stuff around your bed or your arms were moving during the dream?

Your whole body may have been really tense during your nightmare, accounting for the soreness. Sometimes it can work in reverse, too. You'll have body pain and it will induce a violent dream which in turn tenses your muscles up even more causing more pain.

Maybe some relaxation exercises today would help with that.

I have had dreams in the past where I dream I have or get a bruise, and then I have it in that same spot in the morning, but it wasn't there before.. freaky. I think, though, that it's probably that you did bang around in your sleep and hurt yourself and that just went into your dream.
