Hello. I was just wondering if anyone of you heard the company "Wear Your Label"? It's a company trying to reduce stigma on mental health and illness. Two people created it: one with an eating disorder and another with GAD and AD/HD. I am getting a shirt from them. They donate 10% of profits to mental health charities. They have bracelets for only $3.50 US I think. They have bracelets for everything, but autism, but that isn't a mental illness so. And they don't have it for personality disorders I think too. Anyways, they have nice shirts and I got one. They can be pricey, but some money goes to charity so I was OK with that. Here is the link:

Check it out. It's a Canadian company, but I know they ship to the US for sure. I'm not sure where else. They were mainly recognized because of Buzzfeed and MTV if you have read the article on that. Enjoy Have you heard of the company "Wear Your Label"?.

Is it just me, or is Canadian society more open about the importance of mental health?

I may have a bias since I'm half-Canadian (though have lived in the United States most of my life)...this campaign, Kids Help Phone, TSN's Michael Landsberg being open about his mental health on Off The Record and on Twitter, various grassroots campaigns (I could have sworn an NHL player led up a campaign to battle depression)...it just seems the topic is becoming less of a stigma there.

Of course I may be totally naive about it all considering I don't travel over the border as much as I used to...but I try to keep up with the latest news as best I can.

Going back to the original topic, this is a really nice idea, all things considered. Society should get to a point of support and not of misunderstanding. Perhaps these shirts could be a step toward that.

Thanks for the reply. There is still stigma here in Canada (as my friends will talk about it, but not really; and my mom is a no-no), but people are open about it. They tend to get stuff wrong (the general public), but people do talk about it.

It turns out the shirt I wanted was sold out (the one I was going to get), so I have to wait until they are in stock.

And I do use the Kids Help Phone texting line occasionally.

Nice idea. I wouldn't wear the shirts, because I don't like text and images on my clothing. The bracelets are actually nice. I was expecting to see those ubiquitous and ugly gel bracelets.
