I have a phobia of taking meds...I got diagnosed with a panic disorder a month ago and I got prescribed xanax .25mg...I took them a few times and I had a bad reaction to them ( 2 hours felt really tired and light headed, then rebound anxiety twice as bad) and then got prescribed Klonopin .25Mg and havent touched them yet...and I'm seeing a new therapist june 18th...and my dad said " if the therapist prescribes you new meds and you dont take them, youre not allowed to come back home"

weve been to the ER 3 doctors and previous T's and they all want to give me meds...I dont want to take them, My body feels like crap though, I cant sleep, eat, my Back hurts, Chest hurts, headache, Eyes hurt...joints are sore...random muscle spasms...I think I might have anemia or lyme disease...I got blood work done and no results yet...but I'll let you know...

Anyway...I dont know what to do...I'm tired of feeling pain and stress...And I DONT WANT TO TAKE MEDS...But I guess theres no other choice...

I don't wanna take meds either. I doubt your dad was serious when he said that, where will you go if you can't go home?

Ask yourself this question: what's the worse that will happen if I don't take meds? Can I handle being med-free?

Be responsible for yourself, don't let anyone force you into anything you don't want. If you realize meds are good for you, then at least it was your choice, not anybody else's.

BTW u always have a choice...

Noncom -

I know alot of people don't like to take meds and I've had people debate it with me on why I do. I know back in the beginning when I started with depression and anxiety attacks, I tried 5 different meds before I found the right one. I was then on that right one for 16 years and recently decided to switch to a different one because I felt it just wasn't working as well anymore.

The switch was pretty terrible due to withdrawal off the old one. However; I have come to understand that I have a chemical imbalance and taking my antidepressants is no different than a person with high blood pressure who takes a pill for that.

If a pill can help me not feel as bad as I use to (which it does), then bring on the pills What my dad said to me...

I'm on klonipin and is doesn't knock you out as much and has less of a drastic start and stop...

Your dosage is much lower than mine...try the dose and see if it gives any relief...one pill...If it does and doesn't put you in to a tail spin...try again as prescribed...

I agree that you should try the medicines. If you don't like them, then stop, but how do you know if you don't try? The doctors have your best interests at heart, they wouldn't give you something that is dangerous to you.

I was so relieved to hear that you were Rx'd Klonopin instead of Xanax. It is much longer acting. No interdosal anxiety on Klonopin. You are on a very low dose.

My advice is, try it. It should help you immensely. The tired feeling goes away after your body adjusts.

Ignore your dad. I'm sure it was a parental panic moment. He wants you to feel better and he feels helpless to make that happen. We parents don't like feeling that way when it comes to our precious children.

Please keep us posted on how you're doing. I think the meds will make a tremendous difference for you.
Take care,
Okie
