I wanted to do some memory and intelligence testing on myself, hopefully with a test that I don't have to do all at once, and which is reliable and accurate.
You see I was watching Star Wars the other day and it seems I missed a lot of information that other viewers picked up on. This has me questioning my smarts and rememberings. Does anyone know of such a test on the Internet or something? I suppose we could all do it and share our answers, but for now I just want to get some sort of picture of what my strengths and weaknesses are. Thank you. ![]() |

I guess you could take an online IQ test like this one:
IQTest.com And maybe something like this for memory: Human Benchmark The thing is, IQ and memory aren't everything. It often has to do with just how fast you can process information. For example, my IQ is quite high, but I'm not very quick witted. I have to be slow and methodical to work through things. So like I can't remember something that happened very quickly or think quickly in a situation. On the other hand, going step-by-step I can calculated bubble diameter regimes in reactors and things like that. So what I'm saying is that it probably doesn't have anything to do with your memory or intelligence. Only that you didn't process so much information as fast as the next person. No big deal, just different.

To take a real IQ test, you'll need to make an appointment with a psychologist who has access to real tests.
With these online tests, I've never seen any validity studies nor have I seen comparisons between online test A and psychologist-administered IQ test B. |

That's quite true! Processing Speed is a component of real IQ tests.

I just watch a movie for the emotional experience and absorb it as a whole. Some other people are fact junkies and got to know every little detail. It all depends on what you want to get out of it.
I know if I analyzed every scene, I wouldn't enjoy it as much. Besides, my memory is crap which doesn't mean I'm not intelligent. It just sounds like work to me. I think it's a competition thing that guys do anyways. I'd have to watch a movie 10 times for me to know most of it. ![]() |

With some movies, for example the Star Wars movies there is so much to take in, and it moves so fast that it can be overwhelming for people who need more time to process. It also makes a difference how familiar you are with the previous SW movies as frame a of reference can make a big difference.
Also everyone process information differently, and it has nothing to do with IQ. I can remember faces and voices quite well, but with some people I have a very hard time remembering the name that goes with that face or voice. A few times it has left me in very awkward situations where people clearly know me and I know I know them, but putting a name to them or remembering how/where I know them doesn't come to me. It doesn't mean I'm not smart (as I am relatively intelligent in many area) it just has to do with memory formation. Also there are many kinds of intelligence, a person can have a great aptitude in one area and struggle in others. For example a math genius may struggle with reading issues.
