Does anyone else use sarcasm and dry humour to mask their problems?

I comment on things I see and generally say what I'm thinking but because I seem to always be sarcastic everyone thinks I'm joking and tells me how funny I am. But I'm not trying to be funny. I generally feel a lot of disdain and lack enjoyment for most things.

Sometimes I want to come clean to everyone and tell them I'm probably the best actress they've ever seen and see how they like the 'real' me but they'd hate me. But it's gone too far now so I have to keep up this pretence! It's mentally draining.

I often joke that my motto is to leave no entendre un-doubled. Humor, particularly sarcasm, is a social lubricant for me. Since I have no desire to be social and since I am required by life to be in society, I use it all the time.

Even if I wished to become close with someone I had gotten to know over time - a wish that seems almost too far fetched to be considered - it would be near impossible because I have presented a persona to that person that is so far removed from who I truly am, that it would interfere with presenting the real me. When I run out of gas socially, something that happens infrequently but has happened, I get so quiet that I am asked repeatedly what's wrong. Nothing is wrong - I'm being myself and it's freaking you out.

I've had hour long, animated and detailed conversations with people about the New England Patriots or the Dallas Cowboys - and I've never seen a football game in my life. Long conversations about the Kardashians and I couldn't pick one out of a police line-up.
Thanks for this!

I used to let out some pretty sarcastic remarks (usually about people) when I was younger, especially when angered or pushed to my limits.

Am I ambivalent? Well, yes and no.

I love Donald Trump, but I also love getting hit in the balls with a baseball bat.

Oh. My. God. This is exactly what I wanted to say but I couldn't find the words! My friends joke I'm a misanthrope but I think it's absolutely accurate. I detest having to be social apart from the people I choose to socialise with when I'm ready to.

sarcasm is one of the best things about me. A gift I find not many have. So, enough about ME,what do YOU think about ME?

I am here, now what are your other 2 wishes?

Some people say that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit. They're just jealous because they don't understand it.

I love sarcasm. I have my mental Sarcast-O-Meter. I use Sarcasti-Quotes (air quotes).

But I also understand hiding behind it.
Thanks for this!
