Why can't mods have the ability to remove a post in any forum?

its sad that those 2 posts have remained in the new member welcome area for so long now. If I had just joined and I saw that I would leave.

jmo, but maybe something should change?

On the other hand, if anyone followed up with the responses, they might decide this was a pretty good place to stay.

Overall, it works well as things are. There are times, like now, when something might sit for longer than we're used to. In that event, we have great tools for our own experience.

If you have specific suggestions, please send myself or DocJohn a PM.

Thanks!

I didn't mean to sound short in the above response, but I was doing several things at once, while wanting to let y'all know that I'd see this as well.

We've been in the process recently of bringing on additional moderators. We continue to CONSTANTLY work on a good coverage.

Even if we had 5 admins and 15 moderators, though, there would be these times on occasion. It's during these times that we need to remember the tools available to all of us here to keep ourselves emotionally safe...even if we have to click that red "x" for an hour or two.

It's at those times, we do the best we can and Y'ALL rocked.

This site, and any other site I know, will have a post/thread that won't be caught straight away, and the best thing for us to do individually is manage our own experience in the moment. Also, keep in mind that there's a limit to new member posting for these occasions so it won't go on indefinitely until someone shows. We really work hard on the best experience we can offer. Mods should be able to remove a post

I wasn't here. I was with daughter getting a no-stress test on JJ. He appears fine.

Again, if you have specific suggestions, send a PM to myself or DocJohn and THANK YOU EVERYONE for the massive support to each other and teamwork on this!!!

PS I would like to say that this is an excellent website. Incidents like this, and the teamwork you mentioned, do a little to restore my faith in human nature. At least in most humans.

I thought the question was "why can't mods remove posts" not what we should do to protect ourselves.

There were mods here during that time, but their hands were tied as to what they could do.

So you could have fifteen mods all online at the same time for coverage, but they'd still not be able to do anything except tell us not to read or that we should leave. (click the red x)

I just hope no one ever trashes me like that and it sits here for four hours.

Sorry, this was not intended to offend.

End rant.

No offense taken.

At the moment, administrators have global coverage. Moderators moderate the forums that they've shown interest in where there's a need. They do not have a global coverage and there's no way to do that without making one an administrator or adding them to every forum. That's a HUGE undertaking, and all are doing what they feel they can.

I hope that answers that specific question.

Mods don't have the ability to remove any post from any forum because that's not the job they signed up to do, and it would be confusing to members in terms of understanding what moderator is responsible for what forums (since they would all be listed under all the forums).

Yes, it's sad that a post remains online for a few hours until someone comes along and can take it down, but it's a part of being a part of a public community, as we all are here in this one. Sometimes bad things happen, and while we try our best to protect people from seeing some of the bad things, we can't be online 24/7, as we're not some huge corporation with that kind of resources (even if every mod could moderate in every forum, it still wouldn't cover us).

I appreciate your feedback and as we continue to grow, we will look to continue to add new moderators and expand our community team coverage. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Best,
DocJohn
