Hey guys. I'm usually on here under Rayne Selene, but something happened to my account. Oh well. I'm SO STRESSED and I really need advice :'( I have bipolar disorder and I don't handle pressure very well. I keep a schedule that allows me to be at home during the day: that way I can work out, get things done, and not over-stress myself. Anyways, I'm also in school as an undergraduate and my degree is taking forever. My transcript is littered with dropped classes. I want my education really badly! But I can't keep up with the course load. I'm moving to Alabama soon, and I'll be transferring to ASU online. With everything that's going on, I can't keep up with 15 hours of coursework. But if I drop to 12 hours (still full-time), my school will charge me an extra $400! I can't afford that! But if I drop to 9, my school WON'T charge me, but I may lose my standing of "making academic progress" and so lose my eligibility for federal financial aid! I've been approved for a federal loan for next year through fafsa, and I NEED it to pay for school! I can't lose that or I won't be able to go to school at all. But right now I'm having a really hard time keeping up with classes. I can't focus, there's too much. I don't know what to do. I've gotten completely different info from so many people, my school's administration is a mess. Please help. I'm having a total breakdown, I can't stop crying.

Hello brimajo93: Well... it sounds like the Skeezyks doesn't need to welcome you to PsychCentral, even though this is your "first post". I'm sorry you're having such difficulty. It's been many years since I was in college. However, as an undergraduate, I found I could never carry more than 12 credits a semester. It was simply too much for me. So I understand where you're coming from on this.
I'm not able to offer advice with regard to your situation. My only thought would be to try to find some do-nothing 3 credit course you could take just to keep your total credit load up to 15 without having to do too much more work than would be necessary if you were only carrying 12 credits. It might not contribute anything to your educational goals. But it might be one possible way of maneuvering your way through the financial morass you find yourself in. I don't know if such a thing would be possible. Way back when I was in school it would probably have been. (There were lots of dumb pointless courses around one could take!) ![]() ![]()

maintain satisfactory academic progress at all costs. You can transfer to a different school or get a job and pay out of pocket for a semester to regain satisfactory academic progress.

Good Morning,
I just signed in this morning for the first time for the same reason as you. STRESS!!! Hang in there!!! In the end, you are smart and a caring soul. Everything will be fine and I share your feelings of how important school is in life. Learning is an utmost important thing to do in life. It doesn't matter how long it takes you to get your degree, it matters that you stick it out and never give up!!! I have been trying to get a Bachelor's Degree since 2001 and am now so close. So what if I have to figure out a way to work out the money for the last semester and withdrawal now from this semester - Whatever!!! I will get there and so will you!!! |

you can contact a moderator and they can help you figure out what happened to your other account named Rayne Selene. reason I mention this is because we are only allowed one account so you may have to choose which account you want to be active on and which one will get deleted.
