I got my diagnosis for ADD, Anxiety Disorder (OCD) and Clinical Depression from a regular doctor (family physician).

He prescribed some meds too :

1 Tablet Serta (which is Zoloft basically) (50 mg) every morning for 15 days

1 Tablet Clonil (generic name : Clomipramine) (10 mg) 1 every night for 15 days

And apart from these, he gave some kind of homeopathic pills. I don't know what exactly the chemical is.

Please note that I'm from India and people have just started becoming aware of these mental illnesses.
This doctor is a renowned physician in my city. I googled the names of both the meds and they both seem to be pills for Anxiety Disorder, Depression and OCD. But my biggest problem in life is ADD. I want medication for ADD. Should I consult a specialist (psychiatrist)? Or should I continue with this doctor? He has just prescribed the above
mentioned pills for 15 days. Maybe his plan is to take care of ADD later on?

Please post your thoughts and opinions.

Hi

I'm assuming he prescribed them for 15 days and then you will see him again to see how the pills are doing and then he may increase the dose.

I believe zoloft has been used for ADD but I think he just wants to get you going and not do everything at once.

I think he is being responsible and you should stick with him.

Tranquility

I think he wants to get rid of anxiety first cause that is worse and can lead to other far more worse things mentally ( depression, phobias) and Physically ( heart conditions and insomnia, eating problems) ...Then He will help your ADD after...My guess.

I agree with the posters above. Sounds like a reasonable medication start. I don't know how it is in India but in the US amphetamine salts (Adderall) are heavily regulated and GP's are especially reluctant to give them out as an Rx because they are so easily abused.

So seems like he is trying to take care of the other problems and then perhaps get back to the ADD once those are placated.

I have depression, anxiety and ADD. My pdoc started treating the depression and anxiety before he worked on the ADD.
