Can someone tell me? What is a blog?

Basically an online journal, but combines other things... a "blog" of them is how I view it, at least. Like you might add writings, pictures, web quiz results, anything, really. Many include an emoticon and music pick for as you write it... things like LiveJournal, or DeadJournal... there's a link to one in the description of this General section.

The name is a shortened form of "weblog"
Heaven forbid the younger generation should waste valuable time typing "w-e" ![]() Some of them are very interesting though, but many couldn't possibly be of any interest to anyone but the person who wrote it. Maybe that's the point of it all. ------------------------------------ --http://www.idexter.com

It's shortened from weblog. Click on blog in the menu above (light blue bar) to see DocJohn's blog. I have one too at http://ddiamond.net. My main topic is fiber arts, but I write about lots of things. Last night I posted a bunch of sites with personality tests & things like that, along with some of my results. For me, my blog is a way to communicate with the world and explain who I am to anybody who may want to know.

So basically a blog is a web page?

A web page that someone keeps as a diary or a journal.
Some like Rapunzel post interesting things they find, reading it, like she said, you can get to know them better. It is like a peek into their life. Some post everyday, everything they did. I don't know who would be interested in that, but it very likely is good for the poster just as keeping a paper journal can be helpful. There is specialized "weblog" software that makes it easy to post daily, it will add it to the log and date it, etc and sometimes the person can post over the web with a password, so they can add to their journal wherever they are. But that's not necessary for it to be a weblog. ------------------------------------ --http://www.idexter.com

The thing that differentiates a blog from a webpage, is usually if you use a blog site, you don't need to know any coding language. You just log in and start typing
