my wife and I who have been married now for 5 year's, attended a wedding this pat weekend. everything was going good for me feelings wise. until they got to the in sickness and health part. I broke down, shaking uncontrollable and crying. you see because when I was marying my wife to be, what I thought when I uttered the words in sickness and health, I was selflessly thinking of a cold or the flu at worst, but now that I am diagnosed with a mental illness, I find it hard to look at my wife and all that I have put her through because of it and not knowing it at the time. my question is, has anyone ever felt like this, and what can I do to make up for my years of inability's and make it up to her?

Oh totally!
I feel the same way a lot of the time when I look at my husband. But I think if it was TOO difficult for him, he would make it known in other ways. And he doesn't. I think you know when someone loves you enough to stick it out for the long haul...I don't necessarily think that the knowledge of it lessens any guilt you might be feeling, though. |

![]() I hear you. You rely on the fact that your spouse is probably as honored to be there for you as you would be to be there for her. It's not always easy. ![]() |
