The Skeezyks has tried therapy a few times over the years. It was unhelpful. He has instead turned to Buddhist practice to find peace. The Buddha was once asked if a bad person can achieve enlightenment. He replied it is possible... but it would be difficult. The Skeezyks is working on it...

You might try asking your question in the psychotherapy forum.
I have benefited from therapy but I did not suffer from emotional detachment. |

I fall under the second case. I throw up walls and boundaries to protect myself. This is in part due to a history of emotional bullying and being discounted socially. Hence self-worth issues are connected to this. It is a safety net for me. Therapy? Yes, it has helped. We've haven't specifically worked on the detachment issues as we have the self-worth. Doing so has affected many of my other issues - including my apparent coldness and sense of detachment from situations both socially and in the work environment |
