Last night my golden retriever, Henry, started throwing up, a total of 7 times. I took her to the vet this morning and the doctor asked to keep her for observation today. I am waiting to hear from them. Henry is just pup, 6 month old, and seems very active and healthy till last night! I'll post again when I hear from the vet.

Do you think she may have got into something seeker?

I hope she starts to do better very soon. I'm sure the vet is taking good care of her.

When Salem was about that age he had something like that happen. We never figured out what he got into, but we were sure it must have been something. I remember it was about 2am, and I rang the vet to see what I should do. The vet said to give him pepto and bring him into the office in the morning. The pepto made him stop throwing up, but wow was it hard to administer. By the time I got the right amount in him, I was pink, he was pink and so was the carpet.

Let us know as soon as you hear something.

(((((( Henry )))))

Thanks, Gem...
I just shampooed the carpet in my computer room here, as there were 7 or more throw-up spots.
I don't think she got into anything, but she does like to chew on toys, etc! I thought she may have swallowed a sock toy, but it's still here intact!
I called the vet office and they are to call me back soon.

I just got back from the vet and brought Henry home. She seems to be okay, but the vet said just to feed her a small amt and give her the medicine twice a day.
Next.week or so.....she's getting spayed!
Thanks to all of you for the kind words of support!

I'm glad to hear she's doing better. Sounds like she'll be okay. Best of luck to her with the spaying.

OH what anxiety!!!!

But then... My dog is in the vet hospital... Retrievers that age will EAT anything! Just ask about my 9 month old labradoodle and the whereabouts of my wooden rocking chair!!!!

I hope your puppy feels better soon, and that nothing more comes of this.

I'm glad you took him to the vet. My taking Caleb to the vet just before the recalls of the IAMS foods and stuff, probably was what saved his life, even though they didn't find any cause for his barfing... once the recalls occurred, then they realized what it probably was. My dog is in the vet hospital... I bought into the plan so that I never have to think about what it will cost to treat my puppy... and just take him.

Puppies might try to eat too much food and distend their tummies... and with large breed dogs that can cause the stomach to begin to twist, but I don't know enough about this to know if it causing barfing.

I am waiting to hear if your vet has any more ideas on why the puppy barfed.

Huggles to your puppy. TC!

Yes, Sky, you have a pup much like mine! She did throw up a huge amount of dogfood last night...so much so that I was shocked! Then, the continued sickness...all night.
Now she's not eating at all, but since I just gave her the pill the vet gave me, am thinking this is calming her and making her sleepy.
Hoping I don't have to make another trip tot he vet for this, but will certainly do so if she doesn't improve soon!

Just saw your post about your sick baby.......hope the tummy ache goes away soon. It's hard to know what to do for them, not having them be able to tell us where it hurts.....or what isn't feeling good.

Hope it goes away on it's own....tough cause I know you sit up with him all night just like I do with mine.

Vets can usually keep them from dehydrating when they get sick like that.

Hope Henry is getting better,
Debbie

Thanks so much, Eskie (Debbie), and Gost...
This pup just braved the thunder/lightning to go oiut and do her business...What a trooper she is! Both dogs were scared by the big noise!
She seems to be feeling better with since I gave her the pill (with peanut butter!), and hoping she'll continue to improve.
Thanks for your kind words of understanding and support!
Love

Hi seeker!
Haven't posted here yet but I have been following along. I have two children (cats) who I love dearly. I know how difficult it can be when your little furry one isn't feeling well. And the fact that they can't talk to us and tell us doesn't make it any easier. I hope Henry is on the road to recovery, and I send get well wishes to him.

Henry seems to be a bit better this morning, and I've given her another pill...with peanut butter! She's more her old self...getting in the way and wanting attention, play, etc. Hoping to have no more throwing up!
Thanks all!

Don't know what your vet recomended for feeding, but normally when one of mine has an upset tum, after the upset I will feel rice and boiled chicken for a few days just because it is easier on the tum.

I'm glad Henry is doing better today!
