I do not categorise people by their age...

Anyone else feel this way?

The Skeezyks is 68 going on 12! So I'm not in a position to categorize people by their age.

Hmmm...

Raw age is far less an important discriminator than life experience and personality. Nevertheless, I think those under the age of four years and those over 105 should think twice before taking up rock climbing.

I felt a lot older during my black hole period of my life (42-54) than I do now. Brain is functioning again & so is the body & surrounded by people my same age & older & we are all active, riding horses, zip lining, hiking, ballroom dancing. The best thing was leaving my bad marriage after 33 years.....honestly I feel younger & was ready to start life over....second chance....nothing makes one feel younger than a second go at life in a completely new environment

This reminds me of an iconic 80's movie called "Say Anything" with John Cusak. The female lead accuses Johns character of being an ageist and having something against old people. It was the first time I'd heard the term and learned it was an actual thing.

I'm not ageist. I like and learn from children and the elderly and every age in between. Sometimes with age comes wisdom but I'm amazed by how mature some young people are. Basically I care about kindness and dislike cruelty. I tend to forgive cruelty more easily in the young but also in the old who have lived through war, the Great Depression, etc. I usually have the most in common with people close to my age but I've learned that having things in common doesn't mean you'll be compatible as friends. A persons substance is much more important than their age.

This is a very interesting topic...I would like it to stay alive without any kind of judgement or arguments.

My comment (that I had seen it here) had to do with a posting made by someone. The subject doesn't matter, but the poster felt that many of the respondents were in a different age bracket and, so, they couldn't possibly relate to what the poster had said.

It has stuck in my mind all of this time.

I wonder if many people feel this way. A lot of people don't show their age here from what they say (in my opinion, and just from what they say)...some do simply from stating how many years ago such and such happened. Or by literally saying how old they are.

I think age matters. In saying that...perhaps we all assume that another generation couldn't possibly understand, but don't give them credit for knowledge that we don't have.
