Hi, so, I'm 16 and I'm feeling pretty sad. Sorry if this is a little random but I wanna say what's coming to mind.
So I honestly feel like I have no future and I'm not really fit for life. I never know what to do to help myself/never want to. I'm overweight and I can't seem to act on it because I always give up. My PCOS makes it hard to lose weight anyways. I avoid mirrors cause I hate the way I look (face, weight, stretch marks and all). I have mood swings a lot (probably also bc of pcos) I want a part time job to buy the things I want but I feel incapable of handling it without quitting after my first mistake. I want to go to college, but my grades weren't the best in 9th or 10th grade, so it messed up my cumulative gpa so I probably won't end up anywhere good (I'm in 12th grade). I don't even know what I want to do. I'm okay at graphic design and I love film (just rly like editing) but I don't know which to go into and I feel like I'll never be good enough at it, even my grades are showing that I'm starting to give up hope on it. I can't even make friends without pushing them away eventually. I have a girlfriend, who does make me happy when I'm around her, but I don't get to see her much (I don't exactly have a car and shes busy on weekends sometimes so.)I'm still just not rly happy with my life in general. I take these things rly far and often contemplate suicide, even though I feel like I won't actually do it, but who knows.
I would get a psychiatrist or something but it feels like it'll be uncomfortable. Idk. I guess this was more of a vent

if you 16 and in 12th grade u must be smart. Smart is good, education is good but without wisdom your life feels empty. your a normal young man lots of people your age don't know. when it comes to grades don't let it bother u most so called smart people have a better active memory so its easy to remember. u sound creative explore all the things you like to do including hobbies . Also the military has great benefits if you stay in 20 or so years . also college is so expensive that your almost better starting somewhere entry level and hope u can move up and sometimes they pay for u too go to school so explore all the possibilities good luck

Hey, I'm 18... I understand what you're going through The only thing I can say is... try a psychiatrist, or any professional that can help you, somehow. Maybe that will help. Good luck and big hugs

Dear tumblr, i want to tell you that I read your post. I was trouble by it.... not by what you said but by my own experience. Every time I had a problem in my teens and asked for help; I would experience one of two reactions. I would get ignored or dismissed; which hurt. second: i would get help, usually something that came off the tip of the touch, top of the head, first thing someone was thinking. What I have learned is that I have learned a lot, firstly, how much I don't know.
I Ching, Yi Jing, really straightened me out a lot, taught me that one should be in life like a sibling which hides behind the couch observing, peering, on events and what happens, not involving myself.. even so much as to be seen observing. That changes what one sees because of them being aware you are being aware, and you are watching. not sure why I share all this other than my now knowing that in general; people are at core, foundation and primary motivation self-interested. so don't be to worrried about who does not like you.

Miles Franklin: "It is a sign of your own worth sometimes if you are hated by the right people"

if you are held out of a group or out of a person's life, it shows they are shallow, uninteresting, and generally in them own selves insecure.
We are chosen by our friends, then we chose our friends. Make a selection who you want in your personal world, the shallow, the bullies, the drug-addled party nuts who are empty headed "fun" and beautiful people, or the ones with real beauty..inside where it is not a gift of genetics and happenstance. Real value, real beauty is like the soul, it is not a birthright, it is cultivated and
developed through tears, sweat and compassion so deep for another person that it hurts as if it were your own tragedy.
One philosopher hit me, with his view being so much like my own that I had from the age of 13, yes, that early.

Michel du' Montaigne on Self-Esteem ,.,.,,

There are three areas of feelings of inadequacy.,.,.,.,
Bodily : we are not comfortable in our own skin.,.,.,.,.
Cultural: others are judging us of our customs, habits and views.,.,.,.
Intellectual inadequacy.: we feel the way we think or mind is not as sharp as it should be.,.,.,.,.

The most terrible and violent of our afflictions is to despise our own beings.,.,.,
most , up until now said reason is what most promises us to have happiness.
But Michel du' Montaigne, turned this on his head and said that it was precisely because we have intellect that we have so many problems.
He was a very down to earth philosopher accepting and saying animals have a wisdom we should imitate. We humans are far to embarrassed by our bodies and your being and the nature of being human.

Montaigne attacked the way we reasoned what people judge to be normal or adequate, based on habit rather than reason.

He (Michel Montaigne) thought all you needed to be wise was “Modesty”, “Humility” and an 'acceptance of your own limitations”.
On his ceiling is written “have you ever seen a man who is wise in his own eyes. You have more to hope from a mad man than from him.”

The man who thinks he knows does not yet know what knowing is. ,.,.,.,.
There is nothing certain but uncertainty.

If you press me to say why I loved him, I can say no more than because he was he, and I was I. ~Michel de Montaigne
There is no man so good that if he placed all his actions and thoughts under the scrutiny of the law, he would not deserve hanging ten times in his life.
Michele Montaigne (1533-1592)
Essays, Book III, 1595
Chapter 9

please, VALUE yourself based on values that matter, not on things that are not one whit to do with your fate outside your power, but those things you have total power over... the who, the identity of WHO you are.

one last suggestion, the book that LITERALLY saved my life.
Your Perfect Right: A Guide to Assertive Living Robert E. Alberti (Author)

get your head straight and don't measure your worth they way others do, their

standards are stolen from the vain, empty, cruel society which is sick.

you may also take a look at this one.“How to refuse to be miserable about anything, yes, Absolutely anything.”
Albert Ellis.

In my area, anyone can go to community college if they have a high school diploma. And it is cheaper than regular university. They also usually offer career counseling to help you discover what you might like to do for a living. Just a thought.

You do sound depressed. It is hard to talk about, but it might be helpful if you do.

I am a mom and I am so sad when I hear someone so young feel so badly about themselves. My son is 24 but he has felt so bad about himself for such a long time probably started around your age. This world is soo tough to grow up in!! I know you probably cimpart yourself ro everyone around you. I know this sounds so old fashioned but I suffered from depression statting ar your aage also. I finally realized when I got older thar the people around me who seemed to have it altogether don't! ! They are just better at acting the part. Please be patient with yourself and give yourself a chance to see what life has to offer. Most importantly try to enjoy at least one thing each day. Time flies by!! I hope that helps at least a little. Be patient with yourself m
