Holding on to anger is ilke grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; YOU are the one getting burned.

Sometimes the pain of that burn would be well worth it if the other party got burned after I threw it at them. Something to think about...

I thought of that, too, but realized that my hand would probably be gone by the time I had the presence of mind to chuck it at the intended person. Something to think about... It's not worth loosing even one of MY fingers over!

Biding my time and watching has served me well. Something to think about... There's two people that I truly hate; one died screaming and the other is the most miserable soul I know. Year by year for the last 35 years, I've watched him get his comeupance. Didn't lift a single finger! Something to think about...

Sorry about what, Precious? Nothing to feel sorry about as far as *I* can see? Something to think about...

That's a great saying! And I wholeheartedly agree.

For anyone that I was truly angry at or even came close to "hating" (I don't hate as a general rule), I know in my heart that they are the ones who will suffer in the long run. Some I have been able to see it happen to, others I just know in my heart have or will pay for what wrongs they have done. I am patient, so I don't have to see it right away to know that it will happen.

I also believe that hating and holding anger is such a negative waste of my time. I have more important things to do than to hold the anger and hate too close to me for any length of time. I would rather spread friendship and love....that's my goal!

Something to think about...

A Cherokee proverb says:

If you sit by the side of the river long enough, you will see the body of your enemy float by you.

It means there is no point in hating or doing something mean in retribution. Life will take care of your enemy.

I hope I explained this so that it makes sense...

I understood it perfectly! Something to think about... One body and one more to go... Something to think about...

I am usually very quick to throw away my anger. I never hold onto the coal long enough to get hurt myself. Either I realize that the anger wasnt important anyway & let go of it, or I strike back so quick & it's all over anyway. I learned a long time ago that I couldn't hold anger in without getting sick......so I am a very quick fuse sometimes....but that is usually only when I have been pushed too far & have let go so often that can't throw it away anymore....that is when I blow.

When I blow, old Faithful looks like a tiny little spirt. People who know me usually know that I brush off a lot, but don't cross the line. I think we need to be respected & not treated so that we end up angry. If we are treated with respect, it seems that there is not much need for anger.

Just my point of view,
Debbie

Someone once used the analogy (and she is a T, but not mine) that holding onto anger and wanting revenge is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die.
