I am backpacking at the moment and have been living in hostels. I am already emotionally unstable and even though I’m so happy and have made amazing friends I feel like this experience has only made my instability worse. I feel all over the place, I’ve lost so many possessions and made so many stupid mistakes, I’ve been drinking every night, I’ve been involved with two guys, both of whom were horrible to me and left me feeling so low I contemplated suicide (I’m ok now though).

It’s so hard and I need support badly, I don’t know what to do though because my lifestyle feels too chaotic for counselling. I’m great when I’m around people but when I’m alone I hit rock bottom. I just need some stability because it’s all getting too much.

Maybe your friends can help you find a place to settle down. Some people rent out rooms in their homes or a basement apartment might be good a start for you. I'm sorry you've been through some bad times. Hope you can find your way.

Yes, it does sound like you need to settle down right now.

Enquire with the people running the hostel. They may very well be aware of alternative accommodations and available work. I, as others, recommend a period of settling down for a bit.

People can be very selfish and cruel sometimes.
You survived it though so, you're a champ! Congrats on that victory!

I know how you feel. It hurts. It hurts a lot but, you have to distract yourself at times like these and make a reason to go on. I know you can do this because I too have learned to do this. It isn't easy but, the challenge will get in your blood eventually and make you want to continue. You will do well. It is in you to survive.
