It mostly happens before I go to bed. If it helps, during a manic episode, the movements are mostly above the waist and are kind of like jerky movements. I remember them pretty clearly since they are really just 5 seconds long. I tense while doing them. Cannot talk or sometimes open my eyes or do anything with my face for that matter.
Is it some kind of a mania symptom? I doubt it's somatic since it doesn't really make a lot of sense.. if anyone has an idea?

Are you on any kind of medication? That might cause that sort of thing. I would definitely mention it to your doctor.

I was, 1 year ago on Abilify which made my eyes roll up, but I am on absolutely nothing right now. So then can this triggered the whole body when I stopped it?

I don't know. I've never been on Abilify. But again, I would talk to your doctor.

I've been on and off Abilify. I haven't heard of what you describe. Please get this checked out. I'd start with your PCP. Good luck and best wishes.

Yes, go see your primary care physician first.

I am on a heavy dose of Abilify and have not had this problem. Now, I do shake, but that has been attributed to the Lithium.

I'm not sure if this is exactly it, but there's a condition called akathisia that meds like Abilify can cause. While I was in the hospital I was constantly being assessed to see if I was developing it, even though I have Tourette's so it was difficult to tell. Akathisia is a potentially permanent disorder that causes involuntary movements and feelings of restlessness that lead to these movements, and often includes tensing of the muscles.
I'm not sure though if it only happens while you're manic. I would definitely recommend seeing a GP about it.

Well that sounds serious enough. Guess I will have to go then. Thank you
