Does anyone else get really drained after being out and about? If I go out one day, the next day I will crash--I have noticed this. I will do a lot of cleaning around the house and the next day, nothing gets done. I go out to talk to people and stuff and next day I sleep all day.

Now more than before, really. I went to the hospital Sunday night, was discharged and rode a taxi to a meeting with a counselor. Nothing got done around the house. I was out all of yesterday and the day before because of a doctor appointments. Today I had another doctor appointment but explained to them over the phone I cannot make it. They are literally a twenty minute walk, but I'm so exhausted from this week I just asked them them schedule the pre op and surgery over the phone.

I'm not lazy, I just am tired. Drained, exhausted, what say you...I'm going to go take a nap.

I have that problem but mine is more like mental fatigue. I can't do too much on successive days. I have to break things up. I hope you start feeling better soon.

I am affected by this too. I believe we only have so much mental or physical energy at our disposal and when used up we need to rest. It's good that you listen to your body. Some people don't and push themselves beyond their limits and end up in a bad way.

Yes.

I explained the same phenomenon in my own thread not too long ago.

I got a surge of two-hour energy.....then.....BAM. I'm out like a light, either snoozing, or in some sort of vegetative mental state.

So, what I try to do is....whenever I get that burst of energy....I'll use it to my advantage and try to get some housework done, or laundry, or garden, or craft. Because I know that I'll be so drained for the next day or two.

I feel that drained feeling too.
I know when I am out of energy and need to go home. Sometimes I feel drained by my husband. Sometimes it's when I've exhausted my physical energy.
It's kind of interesting to know when you need a break.

I like that quote above by Dean Koontz.

Its very normal to feel this way when things get stressful, it seems like this world is designed to make every one of us this way. Even ones with the hardiest mental constitutions.

Thank goodness there is coffee, music and chocolate!

I think some of us are just created with low stamina. And if we're on psych meds our stamina is even lower (from the meds).

I'm on Effexor.....do you think that's a possible cause of this depleted state?

I know when I go out I need to spend the rest of the day resting. Same if I do a lot of work around the house. I think it's like some kind of emotional fatigue.

I had a talk with my Dr. And she explained my depression as dysthymia. I understand better that's how I am. I've been taking Effexor for a long time. You don't have to habe major depression to be kind of low energy
I'm staying on Effexor I think it helps.

i get this way alot. speaking of it i just took a 4 hour nap as i was busy for a week now it will mess up my sleep schedule at night although. i'll be up all night unless i take an extra diazapam. I guess it is from being exhausted after days of drs appointments and such. even if i go shopping i come home depleted of energy.
