Or to put it another way... less high standard?
I always have hated my dishwasher. It takes forever and it is so loud. My poor cat is on guard the entire time it is on and I hate that I can hear it running over the TV and on my second floor when it is on the first. So I decided I was going to save my pennies and buy a new one. I bought an expensive one. It was promised to be very quiet. I bought it from an expensive boutique place, hoping that installation would be better than lowes. I was disappointed when I got there for them to tell me the shortest cycle now is 60 minutes, which seems like a long time. But this is what happened. (1) installation was just the same as lowes. They messed up my kitchen flooring. I am not sure if I can fix it. And of course, they weren't here a second when they had to christen my bathroom with #2. Yeh... Why do they do that? Run down the local McDonalds! They hardly tested it for a second and bearly explained anything. I could have gotten all of this at Lowes. They gave me a card to rate them but i know it is not going to be good. (2) the dishwasher is IMHO.. loud. Ok maybe it isn't break the bank loud but from almost anyplace in the house, I can hear it and know it is on. I feel like I could have saved hundreds with just a slightly more loud dishwasher. I am running it now so I don't know how it cleans... sure that will suck too. It just seems like I have unrealistic expectations. And it is hurting me. My expectations are never met no matter how much I pay and I am never really happy with anything. I always feel like whatever I get I immediately notice all these little problems and then feel like I am settling. Rarely does anything exceed my expecations. I feels like I am sensitive though because I notice all these little things and most people do not. |

I run into this problem with overly high expectations too. One way I have of dealing with this is researching everything before I make a purchase including spending a great deal of time reading reviews. I also do side by side comparisons. This goes for the aniticipated service experience too.
I am sorry this experience you have had is a bummer. Make sure you look up the customer satisfaction policy and return period. There should be a period of time you have to make a final decision on the product. Make sure you follow-up this unsatsifactory installation experience too. Contact someone in person and demand their attention and follow-up. Take pictures of the damage and send it to them. By the way, I have worked in a kitchens operation and sold appliances. Most people aren't aware that Whirlpool makes virtually every label's product for them so there isn't a great deal of difference from brand to brand. My own dishwasher runs by the way for two hours. |

I have also noticed that most amazon / yelp reviews are just too high. I know that it is possible that people are being paid to do the reviews... but also feel like for most people there is this desire to overstate the good while for me... there is this desire to blow the whistle. If something is good service.. I feel like I do give them high marks. But it amazes me that people can be so willing just to allow and ok time or thing be considered 5 stars? This morning I went to a spa and it got all 5 stars -- but for me it was lacking. The woman couldn't converse to save her life. Ok sure then we won't talk, but she would randomly ask biographical info. She burned my feet a couple of times with too hard water and would laugh like "oh sorry" err.. no test the water first ON YOU. Every time I would recoil from pain she was giving me she would laugh like I was being ticklish. Frankly I suspect she knew all of it and was just having a grand old time torturing me. How can it be that my experiences and everyone else's are so different? |

Well I am happy to report I used another cycle on the dishwasher and I can't hear it at all. But the bad news is that the soap dispenser must be broken because the dry rinse is leaking out of it when I try to put it in.

I would return it to Lowe's and have them fix the floor and never go back there. It's perfectly normal to expect a quiet dishwasher, imo.

I don't think your standards have been too high. I don't think you have been overly sensitive when it comes to this particular experience. I have just ranted twice about my past weekend and found myself mortified my displeasure came on a little too strong. But no, darn it. It was as bad as I have ranted. My voice carried others behind it. The difference is that I chose to speak up about it. So go ahead and do the same. Put in that complaint. Throw your weight around. Give yourself some satisfaction.
