Well, I had a rough weekend. It started a few days following up to last Thursday. My parents were concerned about me constantly complaining to them about hearing voices. They started noticing I was saying gobidy gook sentences that made no sense and I didn't correct myself. That's when they decided to force me into the hospital. They took me in Thursday morning. Please note, this was my second time in 3 months that I've gone to the psych ward at this hospital. When I finally got up to the psych unit, I was in tears. I didn't want to be there. Days passed. My parents visited me and I cried my eyes out when they left and I threatened to smother myself with my pillow to the nurses. They upped the amount of times per hour they checked on me in my room. After 4 days and being put on 9 different medications, including Thorazine, I felt much better. I was released yesterday and I'm not hearing any more voices. Could I have been experiencing psychosis before going into the hospital?

9 meds in 4 days! How did they pull that off.
Took me 8 months to try a whole plethora of drugs for my schizoaffective. You are so lucky it was resolved that fast, I thought that was impossible
Thanks for this!

Hi, Well, from what you've described it sounds like you might have been experiencing psychosis before going into the hospital, yes.

I agree. From what you say, you had psychosis going on at some level. I'm glad you got help and that your hospital stay was successful. Best wishes.

I reiterate what had been said above. I am inclined to think you were experiencing psychosis. I realise you didn't like it there but I believe the hospital was the right place. You may not feel it as so but your parents made the best decision. They clearly care about you. I think it wise to include them as part of your mental healthcare team. Kudows to you for considering yourself that things were not healthy. That is a big part of your recovery.

That almost makes me shiver, thinking I was in psychosis. I'm happy with the Thorazine thus far. It has increased my hunger, but I'm managing it OK.

My family history does not display any form of schizo-related diseases or bipolar disorder. Could my 15 ft fall + brain injury really cause Schizoaffective Disorder? If it's not what I really have, then I'm lost for words. Every symptom matches it to a science and an incredible psychiatrist, fresh out of college diagnosed me with it.

I hope you are all doing well. I'm just trying to make sense of the matter. It really scares me.
