I have a job interview this Thursday for a job that I'd really like, executive officer of a university's library system. the interview is with the chief librarian which strikes me as a bit odd, because there are no preliminaries with HR or even a panel which is what I would have expected.

So please send postive job karma vibes in the direction of Toronto.

Thanks

Splitimage

I've got my rabbit's foot, horseshoe and 4-leaf clover right here beside me. Magic wand is on standby in the corner.

Splitimage,

Wishing you good luck on your job interview. Usually when you are very interested in the job & it's something you want very much, your own good karma will be there with you. When they see enthusiasim in a person about the job.....that can be one of your best selling points for the interview.

Know as much as you can about the position & let them know that you are willing to give your all & want to learn as much as possible.....you will definitely do well on th interview....that is usually what gets the job.

Go for it with gusto,
Debbie

sorry i don't believe in luck, however i believe luck=when preparedness meets opportunity.
you have the opportunity..are you prepared?
do you know everything about this library, it's mission, it's vision statement, the communtiy it serves, is your resume impeccable?
have you been on its website? what is its history?
do you know the names and positions of your superiors?
what can you bring to the job as attributes?
that's what gets you hired.

Thanks everyone - the interview was this morning. I was about as prepared as was possible & I had lots of good "I" stories highlighting my accomplishments. Bad news is I've pretty much been told that I won't make it to second round interviews because I don''t have HR management experience in a unionized environment. In short they wanted an accountant who can do HR and facilities management all in one person. I wished the interviewer luck in filling the role becuase that's one unusual skill set.

oh well - just got to keep sending them resumes out.
