Since July of 2016 I have had a series of new diagnosis added onto my prior, the newest being added last year of Bipolar 2. Since July of last year I have been through 4 psychiatrist (none of them have stayed), gone 4 months without one during turn over and trying to find me a new one, kicked out of group therapy because of instability, 4 deaths of close people (1 that I deployed with to suicide, 2 to cancer, 1 to Alzheimer), unstable medications (still haven't found the right combination), the beginnings of being discharged from the military and the loss of support from my unit and was just declared unemployable. Since 2013 I have been diagnosed with:
PTSD, TBI, anxiety, depression, Insomnia, Narcolepsy, High BP/HR, Arthritis in the neck and shoulder and Bipolar 2

Even after saying how unstable I was with my meds not working it took 4 months to get a new psychiatrist for an urgent consult and the first thing she said to me was "I'm no miracle worker". I am prescribed 8 medications (going on 9) by 4 different doctors all of which have counter side effects with one another but they are all prescribed by specialist. I feel I have lost everything.

I have lost my unit, my "friends", my relationship, some family. I know what is wrong but why is it so hard for every one else. I go in and say what is not working and even with recommendations and I am not taken seriously. It has been one hell of a roller coaster.

I'm so sorry. Psychiatric medicine and the whole psychology field pretty much operate on guesses, and we get to be their guinea pigs.

it is all about the money. The first thing the clinics asked was how were they going to get paid. then i got denied by 3 civilian clinics for being on certain medications that they can not manipulate because they are prescribed by specialist. More people who are passionate about helping people and not the money need to get into the field.
