So hi I'm 17 and on here too much lol.
But I just started college and I definitely feel more free. My household was very. Over protective and I was never able to go out at all, so everything is new to me and now I'm ALWAYS out. I even found that I like being outside more than inside and that's crazy and cool. But I still can't get rid of this feeling- my emotions feel dull. I know when something should be funny, and I do laugh, but it feels fake. I can smile over texting someone I know, but other than that- fear, sadness, anxiety. All things I used to feel a lot a few years back feels like nothing. I get very little reaction. It's weird. I dont cry anymore (which is good) and I still have very low self esteem unfortunately. What could it be? Is this completely normal? I hope nothing's wrong. |

Hi there
![]() Just started college...how exciting. Of course I feel like I have to say....have you thought about talking to a therapist or school counselor about your feelings? That helps many people. Sometimes a dull or flat feeling is from depression. One therapist told me that depression can be from masked anger. Anger from issues or problems stuffed down and not being dealt with. You mentioned low self esteem. Are you taking good care of yourself? "Self care" is extremely important. You also mentioned going out a lot. Are you going out too much? Are you getting caught up in risky behaviors? If you were raised in home where you were kept at home a lot, you might be going overboard. Just asking ![]()

I feel like I am taking good care of myself. Better than when I was home. (I really don't wanna go back lol). By go out a lot, I mean I walk more, I have these fun clubs I've joined, studying out instead of in my room, etc.
Also sorry for the late reply. Thanks for the good lucks! |
