I'm just crushed that my case worker is quitting. She drove me everywhere and would even pick up food for me. They are going to assign me a new one and I'm nervous I won't get a good one. Anyone else have case worker issues?

I facilitate a NAMI support group and several of my group members have case worker issues. It seems that case workers are overloaded with clients because (of course)...lack of funding.
I'm sorry you've lost your case worker and I sure hope you get a good one. |

It sounds like you had a good caseworker. Sending best wishes that you get another good one.

I have gone through 4 in five years. It was obvious that the first three just didn't have their hearts in it and I was no more than a name on paper. Mistakes and misunderstandings happened which had big impacts upon me. Lasting from these experiences I have a general mistrust and fear of the worst case happening (like forgetting to release my money).
I have a new worker no who generally seems to care. She has intervened on my behalf more than once and helped me out several times (most recently a coming move). Now this move will mean I must start over with another and the fear is already building. As said above this is a thankless job. To make matters worse cut backs and the retention rate have necessitate the ever continuing increase to case loads and files. My friend is a social worker and lasted 3 years. She was exhausted, stressed out,, and saw so many damaged people living in lifestyles she was unable to make a difference in. |
