Like - right now, I feel like a bad person. I "hear" myself inside my head (thoughts) say "you are a bad person, you should not have been born" - yet ... I know I am not a bad person, so I "hear" my logical self inside my head (thoughts) say "everyone has times people get angry with them. everyone has times they mess up. nobody is without fault. you are not a bad person. understand?"

Then I can hear them both battling back n forth - like an outright argument. No this is not anything related to or even similar to DID.

It is simply hearing thoughts - much like when you are reading or writing silently, you may "hear" yourself speaking the words you read or write.

The thoughts I "hear" - are both in my speaking voice. They are me, not separate from or even different than me. Yet - its me arguing within myself. Does anyone else do this (when it is unrelated to DID)?

Cool perception of what you “hear” in your head.

This is a daily struggle for me. It's a clash between the intellectual knowledge that I'm not as bad as I think I am, and the emotional feeling that I am. I'm curious, does it ever flip for you? Because after a while, I can feel the opposite: emotionally I feel good, but my logical assessment of myself becomes very focused on my failings and shortcomings, until it flips again, and suddenly I'm depressed, but I know logically that I'm not as bad as I think I am.

The merry-go-round of self-depreciation...

I get the flip-flop but only on rare occasion now. Did that more when my psychotic depression was on a high.

Hm - I wonder then if it could be related to my borderline personality disorder since bipolar and BPD are so similar.

COTM I'm sorry what you do is so confusing, bothersome to you. Its good you realize both voices are you. Unsure if this relates There is a habit of mine where I mentally refer to myself in the 2nd person. Like (my name) you shouldn't do this or wait a minute or think about that etc.

Its not unlike when you are trying to make a decision on something you have conflicting opinions on ... Same idea... So not really a symptom of mental illness in that way - the problem is it is concerning my value or worth or importance or etc..
