yesterday morning i woke and had my morning stretch, as i do every morning...... and my neck cracked.
at first i thought it was just one of those cramp things..... (slept on it funny)
but after 3-4 hours the pain was getting worse, i decided to phone my local gp to make an apointment, i couldnt get an apointment untill the early evening, so i was in pain all day.
when the apointment came, the doctor twisted my head from side to side which hurt like holy hell, he said i had a wry neck injury.....(which is all dutch to me)
he told me i had to take diazepam (5mg five times a day) to relax the muscles... and co-codamol (30 mg four times a day) for the pain......... oh yeah he also told me i had to wear a neck collar.....
now i feel like a right tool, the diazepam knocks me for six and very sleepy, and the collar makes me look like a clown.......... its that embarrassing , when my kids saw it for the first time , they laughed at me....
i feel a right fool .......... i only stretched......

Ouch! Hope it gets better soon. Yeah, I signed up and paid for an exercise club and my neck/shoulder did their thing so it was 3 months of doctors and physical therapists all summer!

I can relate to the neck collar....when they first started trying to treat my migraines, they did an MRI of my neck.....a mess. They said it looked like I had a whip lash sometime in my past & my neck was in a serious shape that needed neck fusion ASAP. I looked back & never was even in a car accident....only thing I could think of was when I was in my equestrian class in college, the horse decided to flip me over his head & I landed on my head on the ground....right over his ears....oops. Guess that had to have been when the original neck injury happened.

Anyway, the neck fusion happened. I had to have a special neck collar that was specially made to fit me & had to wear it for months during the healing & PT. I was so embarrased I couldn't stand it. It really looked funny when I was riding my horse with it on too.

And guess what.....the migraines were worse than ever after the surgery.....but I should never have neck problems again. It's been almost 8 years since the surgery & never had any sense that I had even had the surgery until now. There are things I do like painting over my head & working in the yard, raking up leaves...now I get the stiff neck. Guess getting older really stinks....old surgeries start to hurt when the weather changes....& sure sign that old age is setting in!!!!

Hope your neck feels better soon, but keep an eye on it even afterwards.....who woulda thought that a horse dumping me on my head would have ended up this way 20 years later????

sorry about the neck but at least in the meanatime, you will be floating quite nicely with the diazapam and co-codamol.
at least you doc had the sense to prescribe pain reducing meds.

Ouch ! It amazes me how a person can hurt themselves
from stretching. You were very smart to see a doc.

By the way, how are the drugs working ?

Tell your family that you are not joining the circus. It was just a trial run. Ha Ha

Hope you feel better soon.

what a fool !!!! what a fool !!!!
