Hi All,
I've been checking in quite a bit, but haven't had the time to offer support like I'd like. I will work on that. Please know that I still carry you in my heart.

My life is way too busy at present. I only have a couple of quarters left of school to complete my degree so am taking as many credits as I can so I can get done. The other piece to that is that I'm a perfectionist, so anything less than a 4.0 is not acceptable to me. Just got through midterms so have a breather right now, thank goodness.

I've been at my new job now for a couple of months and it is both exciting and challenging. I work in a very dangerous industry in charge of safety, so you can imagine the responsibility. Sometimes, my heart is heavy.

Those of you who read the therapy forum know that I've also recently joined a DBT skills group. It was originally designed for folks who have BPD but now they have groups open to anyone who wants to learn the skills. The hard thing for me is that the therapists who teach the group don't do process at all, so if someone gets upset in the middle of the group, they tell them to do some DBT skill instead of finding out why they are so upset!! This doesn't sit well with me. After working in psych for so long, I want to help in any way I can.

I also teach self-defense and managing aggressive behavior to local law enforcement. It's very rewarding, but as I write this to you, I'm wondering what the heck I'm doing to myself!!

I have no time for myself. I don't have time for fun. In my mind, I actually have to schedule time with my family. I'm so glad they don't know I have to do that!

Well, that's enough about me. We're heading in to the busiest time of the year -- the holidays! I must say I'm already listening to Christmas music 24/7. Shhhh...don't tell anybody! Hi Everybody
Best,
Okie

Hi Okie, sounds like you are incredibly busy, but in a positive mood. Don't forget to take care of yourself!
