okay so this is going to sound strange but it is the truth
a while back i dreamed of meeting someone that i wanted to
so after i dreamed it i wanted to meet this person in real life so i acted on it i asked someone for help but they did not help but after a while i was able to do it on my own so i did. now we say hi and fist bump. here comes with strange part i am an adult and he is a student and i kind of wanted to be friends with him i think he is cool. i am 23 old male and he is a male. i been doing this for a few months now. Today we said hi and fist bump. but after my boss told me that we are not allow to to that just say hi and leave it at that. no high fives or shaking hands nothing like that. she wasn't mad at all she just explain it to me. so but i will give you a list of what i been doing fist bumping saying hi looking at him. waiting for him to bring his tray up. (i worked in the kitchen) i know this is not normal but i need help. i did have past issues when i was at school with a friendship that similar things happen and the teacher was involved. is this ocd? i was on cymbalta when i was in school. and that help with the depression. but could't rember if help with the ocd but i do have an appointment with my pdoc in a few weeks so i will be asking him about medication. please help i almost cired. not sure why please help. Please no rude comments

first thing that caught my attention is that you stated you are an adult and the other person is a student.....

if you are talking about you and a minor thats called pedophile. (which may be why your boss wants you to limit contact with this other person)

if you mean this person is over 18 well work places are watching their employees and conduct in the work place since the metoo movement. many employers now have rules of conduct in what is acceptable and what isnt. most around here limit hands on contact of any kind, even a fist bump can be misinterpreted as intent to punch or what have you by others.

my suggestion if this is a minor you might want to seek friendship with those your own age or older or at the very least over 18

if this isnt a situation of an underaged person my suggestion is follow the work rules on acceptable behavior set down by your boss. so that you dont end up getting fired or otherwise disciplined for breaking the work place rules

I'm sorry that there are those limits on your greeting this student. Of course we can't tell you if you have a mental illness or what that might be, but from what you wrote you may have OCD and depression? And that this has happened before? Crying because of your boss talking to you could be related, but maybe also it is just upsetting. I don't think that anyone feels good after a boss tells them to stop doing something. It's kind of embarrassing, and maybe disappointing.

If he's a student at middle school, you may want to avoid complications, detour1. I'm sorry, I'm sure you mean well, but it's understandable why your boss would say that. As far as meds goes, unfortunately the only one who can help is your doctor. I'd suggest to talk to him about this and see how it goes from there. Sending many hugs to you

Mickey Cheeky seems right to me along with the others. you may be doing something not allowed in this world we live in as to morality. I don't judge anyone and certainly not you, but i would hate to see something happen and you would be the instigator and get in trouble.

Update today went well. so if he says hi first then i can say hi. so i had visuals with me and that helped and was able to earn a treat after. now i am on seroqel 150mg and thought about it and i am thinking about asking my pdoc about increasing the seroqle and hoping it will help with the obsessive thoughts. which i am still thinking about saying hi to them and wanting to.

We are not doctors so none of us here could tell you whether you have a mental illness or not. What I can say is that even if you do not mean it to be, this relationship already borders on inappropriate. Only because it seems like you are making it that way. You can not be friends with a middle school student, period. It is appropriate for the student or you. You need to focus on friends in your own age group or circle. and he needs to do the same. I understand why your boss is concerned.

Be honest with your doctor. Tell him/her truthfully what you are experiencing/feeling. Your doctor should be able to help you, if not he/she will refer you to someone who does have experience dealing this your situation.
