I was going to give hugs and still will

But it's the 3rd post of your thread

What coping skills has your T suggested for when numbers or other objects consume you in a boomerang cycle?

Only thing the T I had through the charity that helped me was that numbers can't hurt me but I'm certain the number three can, sorry I really went off on one on the forum yesterday about that number

I'm going to hide under here in case that number comes back today to get me

What's it going to do to me if it comes back today?
Is it going to take Tigger away?

Would it comfort you to know that the number has a spiritual significance to most religions. If you are an adherent of Christianity it symbolizes the union of mind/body/spirit. To nearly all practices its meaning is used to symbolise the continuous circle of life; that things come to an end and are followed by rebirth and so on. Is there anything we can do to help? Perhaps there is a coping skill out there to use. I am thinking decatastrophizing the feeling of dread.

""Moreover, Three has its origin in Confucianism andTaoism. It stands for Heaven, Earth and Human being; philosophically, ‘Tao’ means the amiableness among the above three elements. In Chinese tradition, the phrase ‘San Huang Wu Di’ (Three Emperors and Five Sovereigns) generally refers to all emperors of ancient China. ""

Has there been anytime in your life when three of something was good?

Perhaps another page out of a CBT workbook could be helpful. I myself need to work on my ''discounting the positive'. In other words as someone else suggested try to see past situations where three has been positive. But also look into your future and see times it could be positive. For instance, three meals a day is an example. I read too that assessing our thoughts to consider the advantage and disadvantage to our thinking can be a good way to realising our thinking must change. I don't mean the problem, I mean to our thinking. How is thinking negatively about three of benefit to you and how is thinking it is negative a disadvantage. Could it be possible then that thinking negatively is hurtful in the end.
Thanks for this!

I want to point out too that 3 is a stepping stone and leap from 2 to 4. Are those numbers good numbers?

Three tells me bad stuff sometimes though, like it's going to take Tigger from me and it says it's done other bad stuff in the past as well.

I don't get this but there are ways my own thinking is not understood too. Thus, I understand how something might become an unreasonable fear we can't detach ourselves from. In your case it is a number, in one of my many cases it is about the order I put my socks on in the morning. I can understand how such a thing can consume us. I have tried some worksheets my T provided me and while they are useless in the moment of fear and worry they are very helpful before a situation takes place that has me panicking about. It is hard work but steadily my fears and corresponding behaviours are becoming easier to cope with.

There are people here who have their own such fears about objects, ideas, situations, etc. So, please know you are not alone. While the source of this fear might not be understood, we understand the fear itself.
Thanks for this!

2 and 4 are good numbers, three isn't a good number though. It don't like being talked about today.

Yes, I've never liked the number three either. It's too squiggly looking!

On tapatalk, at least, threads aren't viewed by page numbers.
I see a thread of many trying to find ways to help you through this.
