Just before the 22nd slips away... I was just curious. I didn't wish to be macabre on a good Thanksgiving day...

but it's been 44 years since JFK's assassination. One of those things you remember exactly where you were when you heard the news. Such fear in the country (cold war.) Such sadness.

Just wondering.

I did when someone mentioned today is/would be the 23rd. Mostly reminded me that the newspaper clipping I thought to keep (still have) was from the 23rd instead of the 22nd. Trust me to get the next day's instead of the day it happened :-) San Diego Union. I was in 8th grade math class and my English teacher came in and told our math teacher who told us. Lot of mayhem about whether we should get out of school or not (would parents be home for us) but we finally did. Odd to grow up in the Washington area and have to watch everything on TV from California.

I think of it every year because November 22 is my mother's birthday.

I was six, same age as Caroline. I remember coming home from school and seeing a birthday cake on the kitchen table. I figured we were having a party! I walked into the living room and my mother, aunt and some neighbors (who had in fact brought the cake) were huddled around the television, all crying.

Days later I remember sitting in front of the TV, watching the funeral. I remember when Caroline and John Jr. were walking down the steps of the church I was thinking how awful it was for her to have her father die. Little did I know 4 years later...

That's all I remember.

If you're ever in Boston, check out the JFK Memorial Library. Tell them Petunia sent you. JFK... did anyone else think about him today?

My lands I have a brother who lives in Boston! I've visted him twice with my service dog too! We did lots of sightseeing but never knew the Library was there JFK... did anyone else think about him today?

Yes, I recall coming home from school (though I know right where I was at school when I heard) and my mom was sitting in front of the tv sobbing into a kitchen "crying towel." She went through a few of them. I need to check and see what time of day Oswald was shot, because I feel like I was watching it live. Sigh.

Our country was very fortunate that Russia, or even Cuba, didn't attack us then, appearing so vulnerable.

Can you believe before that they didn't have a federal law against assassinating the President? JFK... did anyone else think about him today? If they had, it might have kept Oswald alive (and in Feds hands rather than local police.)

_Sky,

Click on "Virtual Museum Tour" on the bottom right side of the screen.

(That way you can stay warm. You'd freeze out there on the waterfront anytime after October.)

I remember it clearly. I was twelve, and it was 4th period, which was Band. We had just finished playing "All Through The Night", when our teacher started to read to us a message that had just been brought into the classroom. He had tears in his eyes when he read that the President had been killed.

A few months later we found out that the teacher was actually a Republican. We pulled a "Goldwater '64" (AU H2O '64) bumper sticker off of his car.

Hi Sky,

Too busy cooking here to remember.

I was in high school, and my mother fell down on her knees crying on our front walkway, as I walked up our driveway.

I was watching live TV when Oswald was shot by Ruby. I felt like something was going to happen to Oswald a few minutes before the shots rang out.

I miss Camelot!

I recall that bumper sticker... my oldest brother was raving about his, him being the physics genius. I don't recall Dad being happy about that.

Me too EJ, as young as I was, I felt something "wrong" but guessed it was just the whole thing, you know?

"Duck and cover" ah yes... those were the days ???

We were watching the news on the 22nd and a young woman said, "Today's a special day..." and the others said, "Oh that's right. It's the anniversary of the death of JFK."

She said, "Oh yeah. There's that. But it's my brother's birthday."
