I named my first born Krystal Dawn...she has beautiful crystal blue eyes and she was born at dawn...

I have been known as butch all my life and I have hated that name...which...I dont think I need to elaborate on why...

my real name or names are Lyle Kenneth...I wanted to skip the last name and just use these two...

I just had to add about how I named my filly when she was born 3 years ago in September....yes, horse/dog names aren't anything like people names, but the background of her name is rather cute.

I couldn't think of a name & figured that once my foal was born, the appropriate name would come to me. My mare had been pregnant 3 times prior & had miscarried 2 of them & the 3rd had to be put to sleep at 3 weeks old because of an infection that separated the leg bone from the hoof. All of a sudden, my mare was pregnant again & I was stressed the whole time. At the end of the pregnancy (which is 13+ months for a horse), the vet kept coming out to the ranch & telling me that it would be 5 more weeks. This happened 3 times in a row (15 weeks of 5 more weeks), I was a nervous wreck & had decided to not do foal watch at the ranch (sleeping in the back of my jeep cherokee at the stall every night).

I finally got a call from the ranch owner early one morning just after the sun came up, telling me that I had a healthy filly. I threw on some cloths & rushed out to the ranch. We imprinted immediately....she was like a little puppy dog. It was a feeling I had never even dreamed would happen in my life. I had gone through so many horrible things in my life that is seemed it was about time something awsome came into my life.

I thought & thought & thought some more....came up with all kinds of plain nafes & silly names & pretty names (star of Bethlehem (Beth)) based on the blaze on her nose....but I finally came up with the final solution. I kept telling her it was about time she came after waiting for so many 5 weeks & everyone kept telling me it was about time I had my foal.

Her name became "Itssabout Tyme" (It's about time)......From there comes Izzabelle....& Izzy for short. I have always realized that the right name that is fitting will come along.

I love coming up with names...it's difficult at times, but I believe there is a fitting beautiful name for every one on this earth. I truely think that there is always the perfect name that fits & it takes time to become aware of the appropriate name....but it's always there. A name is the most important part of an identity.....& an important responsibility for those doing the naming to find that appropriate.

well, Mystry, Eskie, BFlatGary...

what more is added here... we have unusual names from Bflat... would the child feel unusual, special?

Mystry, it reminds me of names which harm... "butch" ... connotations... but also, you use universal environmentals in naming Kryystal... much to expand on... and Dawn ... , alone, each is loaded with meanings... ecyclopedic meanings... and combined.... super-powered...

Eskie, you make me wonder if horses understand their names... clearly they recognize them... what does it mean to them?

I was thinking some more and i thought about the sub-conscious affect of our names.. like, if you were named "Keys" ... and then you worked as a security guard... kinde neat..

cops named Marshall..... ??? Thanks Everyone What is in a Name?
