A while back, I came upon a web site that could give you exercises depending on what parts of your brain function needed exercise. But I forget its name.
Do you know of any good web sites like that? |

I don't know the website, but we spoke about this in a psych class I took last semester. Some of the main exercises of the mind are doing mathematics, reading, creative thinking(art), and critical thinking. what the mind does, is it rewires and adapts to change. The comparison of the human mind to other muscles involved in physical exercise is a good one. I know that in order to strenghten neural connections you can do things you do with the opposite hand. You got me curious on this topic. If I get more info, I'll post more. Was this helpful?

A few years back I was recommended a book called Brain Lock: Free Yourself From Obsessive Compulsive Behavior. It had some mental excersizes and such for people dealing with OCD and other anxiety disorders. It is by Jeffrey M. Schwartz and Beverly Beyette. I got it on amazon. My OCD was pretty much under control at this point but it did have some good tips and I know other people who have really liked it. I use meds, which aren't really recommended by this book - but I happen to also have bipolar II disorder so that's another story. STill, if anxiety is an issue, check it out!

Perna, you found the info I was looking for here. It was Sharp Brains, which you mention on another thread.
Did you go to this page? http://www.sharpbrains.com/z/for-first-time-visitors/ Check out the Brain Exercises. They are illuminating. |
