I know a member posted asking for some cheerful, or pleasant stories. And I know it is true, if you face situations with a positive attitude, a positive outlook, things may not be as bad as first thought. Maybe there are different or more solutions. Well, I am praying that there will be different or more solutions to my problem. One of my worst nightmares came true today. I posted earlier this month about my background check. I disclosed all information regarding my background with the required paperwork,. But today becasue of a felony I lost the best job I have ever had. The felony was 7 years ago. I was able to start the appeal process today. My boss is on my side also. It is also a possibility to be relocated to another position, with the same pay. My job has been my life for the past 3 1/2 years. I love the position, I love the kids I work with and their families too. I feel like my whole life revolves around my job. I am so totally devastated. I hope everyone will say their prayers or do anything else that helps wishes and dreams come true. I have worked at several jobs and this is the first job I have ever had, that I love getting up and going to. I would appreciate anyt help in getting my position back or relocated to something I enjoy.

Have you tried talking to your PO (or former PO?) about having the work restrictions lifted? Most states have some program which allows, in certain circumstances, to have work restrictions lifted for felonies. I think it's called having the felony expunged?

Good luck

(((curley))) ... dont give up all hope... there are still a lot of positives to gain from your experience...

you have the experience itself, some really great references, and a better understanding of what you'd like to do with yourself..

dont give up, k?

(((((Curley))))) I am so sorry to hear things turned out this way!!!! You've got my thoughts and prayers! I am not familiar with the felony, but isn't there a way to have it expunged? Seven years is a long time, I agree with Camp, someone in the law enforcement field familiar with your case such as a former P.O. might have some promising information.

Hang in there girl!

Hi Curley,
You can go to court after 5 years and a clean record to ask that your felony be expunged and your record sealed. I hope you do this right away because you can indicate you are doing so in your appeal process.

Best of luck to you.

curley, wow, I am so sorry you are going through this. There is not much I can do to help you, but I am thinking positive thoughts for you. I truly hope this works out because it sounds like you are a wonderful person for the job. In the end, it is the kids that are being hurt. That really saddens me.

Hang in there.

I don't know what the laws are in CA, but in Wisconsin only certain crimes are eligible for expungement, and only if you are under 21, usually. Felonies usually don't qualify, as they are by definition the most serious crimes.

There are a ton of felonies that aren't crimes against persons. All the violent stuff, sex crimes, crimes involving weapons, etc., generally crimes against persons are not expungeable. All the other felonies usually are.

It's at least worth checking out.
