As hard as it was to leave, we had so much fun spending time with the sweet little darlings at the animal shelter. There was a adorable dog; his name is Klondike, who was severly beaten. It took him awhile to even come close to the fence to see us. We just waited and talked to him gently. He was so cute, he kept wagging his tail and slowly walking towards us. Finally, the staff brought him out and he cuddled with us. Poor thing put his tail between his legs, thinking we may hurt him. I had to turn away from tears. The lady that was working walked over to me and said; "You have a kind heart and I see that, I cry all the time for the animals here." By the time we left he was wanting to play, but they were closing. So we are going back today. We want to adopt him. I am so worried that he wont get a good home, and the staff said he has been there a while; which is not good. Man, he is so awesome. Anyway, I wanted to share this with all of you. It sure brightened our day. Busy day today, so I dont know how much I would be able to be on. Dentists, animals etc. Have a good day.

We adopted a dog once in the same circunstances, but when we brought him home it was way to hyper and crazy and it just didn't work for us. What we ended up doing is taking him back to the shelter and sponsor him until he got a home ( I didn't want him put to sleep).

We gave it another shot with another dog, and went through the same. It was a beagle and our pretty big back yard wasn't big enough. This time, instead of taking him back to the shelter, we put an add in the paper. We found a old couple who had had a beagle that died from cancer and were very sad. We sent to see them with "buttons" our dog and found they were a perfect match so we let them have it. We visited buttons a few times to make sure he was ok.

Good luck with your new addition to the family.

that is so sad about that dog!

if i wasn't so allergic to cats, i think it would be awesome to work in an animal shelter!

They have had Kondike for some time now. He is a pretty calm dog and is very loving. I spoke to one of the staff for a long time about him. I feel good about him. We have not decided as of yet as I need to get myself well again before taking on other responsibilities. We are just going to go and visit him and see how it goes. Thank you though for the information; I apreciate it.
Talk to you all later.

That sounds so excellent and just so much fun! I love animals. Wish I could go out and get a dog. I have the guinea pig. She is sweet. I'd like to have more animals, though. Congrat's on your new "child"!!!! I went to the animal shelter!!

He is wonderful and we had fun with him. I had to leave the kids and my boyfriend there while I went to my appointment. Like I say, we are not sure of a comittment right now as so much is going on. We will see him all the time and maybe when things settle we will get him then. For now, visiting is good for all of us. I do adore him though. He put his head on me today when he was scared as someone else came out to see the doggies. Hard to leave the beautiful boy. I am going into hospital soon so its not the best idea right now; he needs more attention than that.
