My daughter is becoming more and more interested in Barbies, Bratz, and all those other hoochie mama looking dolls on the market. She received a few for Christmas, but there hidden. I personally disagree with the way they look and the message they send young female children. I remember having several hoochie mama dolls when I was young and playing "stripper" with them. Jeez, Can a child help but think sexual about dolls that look like prostitutes?? I don't want my little girl playing with them. Some people think I'm being to harsh and taking a part of her childhood away from her by doing this. I don't mind her playing with dolls that look like dolls or normal people, but hoochie mama dolls are to much.

I hope to teach my daughter that this type of look, sex appeal, and extreme vanity is unnecessary and that she is naturally beautiful and natural beauty should be embraced and vanity put aside as superficial.

Am I being to hard...to sheltering, over protective????

Raising healthy children is the toughest job in the world. Someone once told me to do what I believed, because if I didn't, I'd regret it all of my life. You are the best judge of what's best for you child.

This will be good practice for the teen years.

hoochie

Main Entry: hooch·ie
Pronunciation: \ˈhü-chē\
Function: noun
Etymology: perhaps from hootchy (as in hootchy-kootchy exotic dance)
Date: 1991
slang : a sexually promiscuous young woman

Seems you've pegged those dolls correctly. Children can want all they want to, but unless the parent condones it by buying it, they won't get to follow through with the actions. hoochie mama dolls

I don't let my daughter have Bratz either. Barbies are ok. . .some of them. . .and I'm real particular about which ones she gets.

We do Polly Pockets.

"Hoochie mama"!!! hoochie mama dolls hoochie mama dolls hoochie mama dolls That's what one of my DsIL calls Shania Twain! hoochie mama dolls hoochie mama dolls I'm just laughing at the term Des, not your opinion, although I've heard that opinion, too.

My daughter never had Barbie dolls but not because I thought they looked like "hoochie mamas." LOL She just wasn't into them.

I've got a granddaughter that has quite an extensive collection of them but I haven't seen any "hoockie mamas" in her collection. They're mostly the princesses and the Christmas collection, etc.

My other granddaughter asked for some Bratz dolls a few years ago and never having seen them, I went shopping with the intention of buying her at least one, although the name gave me doubts. When I saw them, I said "FORGET IT!!!!" The expression they have on their faces, not to mention all the makeup, was enough to validate my original doubts. No way was I going to get my sweet, innocent little granddaughter "attitude" to play with. hoochie mama dolls

I don't know if she got any Bratz dolls but from what I saw when she was here last year, they didn't leave any lasting impression on her, thank God! Now her "Poppa" buys her beautiful collector's dolls for her birthday and Christmas. I understand she LOVES 'EM! hoochie mama dolls

EDIT: Oh, BTW, I either heard or read that if a real woman was built like Barbie, there's no way she could hold her balance upright. She's fall over from the weight. IDK, my granddaughter's mama does a fairly good job of carrying HERS... and so does Dolly Parton for that matter! hoochie mama dolls hoochie mama dolls
