That "Nash worked in a communitarian setting where his eccentricities were accepted" which I'd never heard of.

That was Princeton University, especially the math department. Did you notice his picture?

His hair is less groomed than other pictures and it looks like there's a shadow or spill on the left shoulder of his suit coat and like the coat is too large for him?

Boris Karloff's real name was William Henry Pratt. According to Wikipedia, "In contrast to the characters he played on screen, Karloff was known in real life as a very kind gentleman who gave generously, especially to children's charities." Also, "Despite his great performances in many classic horror movies, there's reason to think he never took such roles seriously. He once said, 'My wife is a woman of very great taste. That's why she's never seen any of my films.'"

This is an interesting game. It's sort of stream of consciousness meets quiz show. Pach takes a word or phrase from a post and provides Wiki based trivia. So far in this post we could get interesting new insight into "stream of consciousness", "Wiki", "Quiz Show", or just to be fun I'll mention "U-238".
Pach, back to you. ![]() Cyran0

I was trying to suggest that the person who adopted the professional name of Boris Karloff was quite different from the monster that he portrayed in movies. In a similar way, maybe the mathematician John Nash was quite different from the picture you said reminded you of Karloff. I think one can get from his picture, if one is a sensitive observer, along with whatever other information you might have about him, quite a lot of information, or suggestive insights. His face struck me as showing uncertainty, weariness, and some distress. Not something you could claim as certainties, but as suggestions as to what he had experienced. Not surprising if you knew his life history. I think one can read quite a bit from people's faces (and actions) in general. It can be quite entertaining and useful.
