So, I went to my psychiatrist and we had a long chat and he said that there was like certain symptoms I have that can't be explained by the diagnosises I have. So he wants to do an IQ test incase it's an intellectual disability causing me to be unable to forfill daily tasks. I think it's unlikely that I have a low IQ but still it's very necessary because if that's ruled out he can do other tests to find out. Of course I chat to my family and dad just thinks I'm lazy but like seriously if that was just it I'd be performing okay. I just am very confused I don't know of any mental illness that causes you to not forfill any tasks. Now if I was old you could just say I had dementia or alzeihmers but it's like kind of scary that this part of my illness can't be explained.

There is a thing called "executive function".
Thanks for this!

Learning disabilities could possibly be involved. My ex husband would only do things that interested him (not much interested him). He had a very high IQ, but only in certain areas & he avoided anything else but he didn't have a clue that was what he was doing. Realized in his late 50's he had undiagnosed high functioning ASD

It could be a learning disability. I think it's worth getting tested.

Has anyone ever discussed with you the possibility that you may have ADHD?

Everything people have posted on this thread, also depression. I don't believe that anyone is "lazy." there are reasons why someone doesn't do something.

The problem is that people can't read minds or motives & many people look like they are being lazy & then unfortunately they apply the "If it walks like a duck & quacks like a duck then it must be a duck" theory

Personally I know with my ex, he tried my patience beyond belief & when that happens many of us who feel wronged by their behavior end up striking out with impatience at their behavior & that is when angry words accusing it of being laziness especially when there is no diagnosed reason for the behavior. That is why it is important to have the diagnosis

I agree that a diagnosis is helpful. Let us know what the test results are.

Doctor said I have ADHD but that then if that's the case it didn't explain everything.

There could be a thousand reasons why you “ can’t complete tasks”.
First you probably should undergo a thorough physical. There could be many physical reasons why you can’t do anything. Conditions that can make you feel weak and lethargic. After that I’m sure in due time the psychiatrist will come up
with some info on your condition after various tests etc…..Good luck

Have seen a few with ADHD who just can't figure out how to start doing things & then they just want it "done already" so nothing gets done. The same Mental issues take different forms in different people

ADHD could be part of it, but possibly other things as well.

I got bloodwork done and found I was low in Vitamin D. Supplements helped me a lot with energy.

Definitely good to look into ALL possibilities cause physical health can be a huge key into knowing the problem & usually easier to solve
