Finally had it last nite. Called the TeleHealth (you call this certain
number and a registered nurse will answer - you can talk to them and they'll give suggestions) and the nurse there said i sounded really bad. Even offered to call 911 for me cuz ambulance has oxygen. I said no - didnt want all the ruckus in the neighbourhood. Coughed and threw up a lot of gunk,
Called my bro and he drove me to hospital.

At registration desk, they took my vitals, meds, etc. Then sent me over to another desk for tags. The guy at that desk, rolled away from me when i coughed (dont blame him) and he told me to go outside to the nurse and ask her to put a mask on me. So bro and i went back outside the ER room. The nurse was VERY nice. She guessed who was giving me trouble and went with me to talk to him. He told her that i need mask. She said i cant cuz im asthmatic. He tried again, but nurse beat him to it and said no mask.

Took only few minutes before they called me in cuz of my 'condition' (some waited for hours). I was coughing so much and so hard - ppl moved away from me in the waiting room. I also pulled muscle in chest too. The doc came, checked me out, told nurse to give me 2 'treatments' of asthma meds using
> mask, then prednisone, then another 'treatment'. Each treatment took about 20min.

After the 3 treatments, they took me to x-ray. Came back, doc checked again, said i was still wheezy - gave me another treatment. The internist doc came. Checked me out, and kept me over night - with more treatments and codeine (6 syringes).

Long nite - no sleep. As soon as I was almost totally asleelp - my machine beeped (didnt have enough oxygen). Then there were other ppl talking. They woke me up to take my vitals, breathing tests, more treatments.

Felt better after the 5 or 6 treatments. They promised me breakfast, but nothing came. Not even water. For over 12hours, nothing went inside my mouth except meds.

They finally released me with instructions to call my respirologist for appt for next week, and prescriptions.

I called my respirologist and told the receptionist the ER doctor's instructions (see resp. early next week). But receptionist said *her* doctor said to fit me in sometime in the next few weeks. ( Feel like I'm a 'problem') Fortunately, she said there was a cancellation on Monday, so I'm seeing respt. , then afterwards - my shrink.

Got home around 10am. Stayed home from work today. Tomorrow - we'll see.

Oka sweetie this is a smart mule reply. I told you so! I was so worried about you. Now will you believe me? I am so glad you went in. Geez it stinks to have that much trouble breathing. Some day I will tell you a funny story about not breathing and embarrassment. Good job getting help and please keep on top of it. Asthma can be controlled so have hope. I have spent a few years combined awake due to it but it can be managed. I am so glad you did well and are out. Go back if you need to and don't mess around next time. Also, I am the wise one so you have to heed my advice. He He He

Wow, you sounded very calm and patient throughout your ordeal. That says a lot about your character. You are going to get through this glitch in your life.

It is a GREAT thing to do little things well, just like your journey through the hospital experience.

Take care!

Sandy

I hope that you will find the courage to utilize the professionals in other aspects of your life; it's a very scary experience to admit to the professionals that you need their help, but they're the ones trained to help you.
Please continue down this path to great health. I care about you, and want to see you much better.

I'll try Jon. It is very scary, especially when even trained professional treats you as if you are either a hypochondriac or a leper (sp?). My sensitivity is pretty high right now. You guys give me the strength to keep going - thanks.
