I apologize if this is not the best forum in which to post this, I couldn't find one that seemed to fit...
I have an adult extended family member who everyone is concerned about. They are sort of vague, "Something is really wrong with ____", "he's talking about crazy things." I don't know that he's threatened to directly hurt himself or others, but he's been talking about grand delusional plans to commit robberies (he is in bad shape financially but refuses to get a job). I am concerned about being proactive instead of waiting until after something bad happens. Would some sort of social services agency be able to bring him in for an assessment? |

Pure advice with the obvious reality that I know so very little about the situation.
Ask the person closest to him to sit with him in a comfortable no threatening enviornment and simply share the concern and ask him his intentions.. Lenny

Do you have a local community services/hot line you can call and ask?
Adult protective case management type services go by varying names according to where you are. Here in states - contacting the state department of social services can be a good start.
