I am so angry! I am disabled and just mad! In our county if you are disabled there is a disabled homestead exemption. well you would think all you would need is your letter from Social Security right? wrong! they want a dr to write a letter! what?? my dr will not write it for me! so right now I have a call into my state representative since she is the one that wrote the referendum. errrrrrrrrrrrrr . do any of you get that exemption and what did you have to do to get it?

It's usually a state law isn't it, and they determine it, not local people? You fill out a form for the state and get the exemption status and then you can show that to the idiot local people if they have extra local taxes sometimes. I wouldn't even mess with locals other than sending them copies of whatever forms the law says (and if they're resistant, a copy of the law or page form the website describing it like this one in Ohio, and circle it in red

this is county property taxes. so it is local I guess. I have never owned a home before so this is all new to me.

No, I'm in Maryland, LOL. That was just an example. All the examples I found showed it was a State thing that trickles down; you might get something off on State taxes too.

I am in Ga. all I found on our county website is nothing lol. I did actually find where they wrote it to say that only a dr letter. now that is just stupid in my opinion. errrrr now to fight county hall lol
