fill a glass with water. put a drinking straw in the glass. bend over at the waist as far as you can and drink water through the straw, swallowing while still bent over.

i don't know if it works for everyone every time, but it works well for me!

Hokay this is what you do.
Close your eyes, hold your breath, and in your head spell your whole name backwards.
Hey, it works for me.

Interesting about the spoonful of sugar. I've always swallowed it versus let it dissolve.

When I was a kid and got the hiccups my mom would always ask me if I had done something wrong......so I would sit and think and think and think if I had done anything wrong. I would be so into thinking about it that I would forget about the hiccups and they would naturally go away....hiccups

Of course, you could turn it around to ask...what have you done right...or what was the last song you hear...sing it through...anything at all to think about instead of the hiccups.

Another thing I've done with my kids is completely opposite of that...I would tell them to think of the next time they were going to hiccup.....LOL. Strange I know....

What it really comes down to is this.....breathe as naturally as you can....put your mind on something else and they will go away as soon as they're ready hiccups

When I get the hiccups, I blow into an empty cup and pretend the hiccup went into the cup. I turn the cup over so my hiccup won't escape. It really seems to work for me...Its like a magic trick.lol.
