I do SOMETIMES I used to talk to myself all the time about 5 years back, but now I don't do it so much. Except, this one time last week, when I took a walk down my favorite bike path, it was pretty much abandoned so I decided that "hey, nobody's around, I might as well keep myself entertained" I was practicly getting into theatrics when I noticed that someone was coming and it's like "Ah! How much did they hear?! How much would the sound carry around here anyways?!" and then I was kinda forced to whisper to myself until on the way back when nobody was around again and I started making up my own little songs (I have my own soundtrack? Apparently.)

Heck...I'm always talking to myself.....sometimes I have the best conversations with myself to many others' dismay.... :-D

It's a great way of working through issues....getting the left and right brain working together! At this point in my life, I could care less if anyone here's me....it's all good Do you talk to yourself when you're alone? Heck, it may even help with striking up a conversation with someone else....and I can learn from them!

Do you talk to yourself when you're alone?

i talk to myself soundlessly ...i mean in my mind. It IS talking not just thinking i mean.well, if you talk out and you might get caught and it would be a little bit embarrassed(for both i think.) i personally dont like persons who talk out to themselves. its even a little bit scary for me (hmm..sorry)

I talk to myself in public too, including telling myself not to talk to myself because someone might hear Do you talk to yourself when you're alone? But I'll wander down grocery store aisles, etc. just commenting away.

Yeah, I do it at work sometimes and they just say "there goes BJ, having conversation with herself cuz no one is capable of having such intellectual conversation with her except herself!" LOL and they say that because they asked me once why I always ask a question and answer myself without waiting for another response. Well, my response to that was that no one is smart enough to converse with me except for me! lololol
In actuality it helps me think better when I verbalize what I am thinking. I do that with reading, as well. I have to read aloud or my train of focus gets off track.

So funny...I was just talking to myself about my financial situation, and at the same time just browsing posts......then encountered this post..hee hee. I find it very normal to talk to yourself, it is a great way to express what you are feeling in a out load mode. I think that when I talk to myself, it helps work me through a situation before it is to be approached. like for example: my husband for the 3rd day in a row did not take out the garbage (which is a now always talk to myself issue..lol) I will grunt my frustrations to myself b4 i give him the third degree, at least when I talk to myself first, I release the more inner anger b4 i say something to him. Does this make sense to anyone? Or am I just talking to myself?

I talk to myself outloud usually when I'm doing something. Like my homework, I always talk to myself because I think I understand more if I hear it. I talk to myself in my head all the time.

I do talk to myself both out loud and silently in my head... At work, at home, in the car, with friends, conversations within conversations, in the shower, etc... I do it all... I talk to myslef looking in a mirror... once my youngest daughter saw me and she was like.. "mom that's not roght are you ok?" LOLOL pple at work are use to it, sometimes they comment on it... sometimes i still talk to my imaginary friends from childhood... I do it for many reasons... to work out an issue, to calm myself, to vent my thoughts and opinions.. and sometimes as a companion to myself... its just a part of me and I dont mind it all Do you talk to yourself when you're alone?

I don't talk outloud to myself all that often - but I expect I'll start more when I go back to work, because I know I do it a lot when I'm problem solving. I sometimes do it too when I know I'm stuck in a praticularly negative thought pattern that I have to break.

but LOL when I first started going to AA there was a meeting 2 nights a week that I walked to and I'd find myself saying the serenity prayer outloud. I'm sure I scared off lots of nice dog walkers.

I do a lot of head talking, which is usually not a good thing Do you talk to yourself when you're alone?.

Sometimes what is going on in my head gets said out loud, not a good thing either, because it tends to be something in the line of "I wish I was dead", etc.

One time I was downstairs doing the wash and I didn't know my son was around. The head talk was really going on and I shouted it out loud "I don't care!!" My teenage son poked his head around the corner and said "You know mom, when you say I don't care like that, it is usually when you care the most." He was probably right, but I felt bad that he heard me talking to myself. Do you talk to yourself when you're alone?

I have tried to keep the talking out loud to a minimum, but the head talk is killing me Do you talk to yourself when you're alone?.

I think lots of people talk to themselves, they just wear those little "bluetooth" headphones in their ears so you don't look at them funny. Do you talk to yourself when you're alone?

Take care everyone...

I talk to myself a lot--in my head and out loud. I think it helps me work through issues. I just bought a camcorder so I can record myself talking. I want to journal on video instead of by writing. I an still not sure what I am going to do with the videos, but I also have a ton of journal pages that I have no idea what to do with...So...not only do I talk to myself, I record myself talking to myself! Lols.

lol i never talk to myself outloud. but i do think to myself in my head. Do you talk to yourself when you're alone?

My old psych teacher used to say, its ok if you talk to yourself or if you talk to things like the mailbox, but its when the mailbox (or other objects) start talking back to you that you might want to be concerned. lol

I talk to myself all the time especially when I'm really trying to concentrate on what I'm doing or trying to figure something out. I also talk to my cats, I pretend that they talk back to me (they kind of do with their noises they make... I just make up what it is they're actually saying). The other day at work I was really trying to figure something out and a co-worker came by and was like are you talking to yourself? and responded, "Yes, it helps me stay focused" and she was like oh... OK!
