I'd say that ignorance of mental health issues has similar consequences, at least in how people react to suffering when it is strange and different and its causes are not understood.

Unfortunately, Cholera is still a major illness in third world countries like Africa.

In fact, diarreheal diseases like Cholera are the #1 infectious disease killer of children in the world.
