I am an avid coffee drinker. I used to occasionally get the frappacionos from Starbucks in the summer. Well, a couple of weeks ago I decided to get a regular cup of coffee for the first time. OMG. I took one sip, almost threw up, and ended up dumping the coffee into a garbage. I cannot believe how their coffee tastes. It tastes as though it went on fire-- barbequed coffee. How do you burn coffee? Starbucks is by far, the worst coffee I have EVER tasted. I don't understand how so many people can drink it. I mean, people are really addicted to Starbucks. I love to go to the different independent coffee shoppes all over the city with the yummy coffees and syrups. I also have no problem with Dunkin Donuts when I'm on the run. But Starbucks!! My god!! I have never tasted anything so awful in my life.

I've never had their regular coffee, but greatly enjoy the espresso and frapp drinks.

Dunkin Donuts is my favorite for regular coffee!

I never drunk their straight coffee but I was an avid drinker of the frapps in the summer. I rather have a cappuccino anyways. You think they would taste better for the price.

I agree!! I can't STAND their regular coffee!!

I prefer latte's anyway...but their regular drip coffee is worse than a gas station. Blech. I don't know why people pay so much for it!

Where I live now - there is NOT a Starbucks in town! Go figure. But we do have several local drive-thru coffee joints that are YUMM-Y!! They use chocolate milk for the base in the mocha's. It's super sweet but really good.

If you ever see a Dutch Bros - try it, they are yummy.

Their regular coffee is nasty, I stick to Lattes, which I absolutely love.

Sometimes they'll leave their coffee on the burner for waaaaaay to long because their so busy making all those other drinks. Starbucks ain't known for their regular coffee, that's for sure. We have one Starbucks here in the entire region, it's so expensive, not a lot of people go there. But when I went to New York....omg, they were everywhere.

I can never remember the name. Their pastries are even worse than their regular coffee.

Where I live, Starbucks is completely scorned - they keep buying the local coffee chains.

I like a good latte as much as the next person, but their drip coffee is blech! Fortunately, you can't throw a rock without hitting an independent coffee house here, so we're not relegated to Charbucks.

If I ever go to Starbucks to order a Frap, I love annoying the counter people by refusing to use their language of coffee size. What the hell is with venti and tall and all that crap? I say "small" and they go, "tall?" and I say, "No, small. You know... the smallest size you have."

I'm addicted to Starbuck's cinnamon dolce lattes and to their espresso brownies. When I wasn't working I'd go out and get one every day, to the point that it got to be a joke with my landlords. But for my regular morning drive to work coffee it's Tim Horton's all the way.

This past semester, I ended up having to go to Starbucks a few times to meet up with people to study.... I completely avoided the coffee and got the grapefruit soda-- the only thing I really like there. It comes in a glass bottle. Once I got the white mocha something or other and I almost %#@&#! vomited.

I live in the land of Starbucks. There is almost one every block. If I go there, I get the China Green Tips tea or the hot apple cider. I don't drink much coffee, but if I do, I get a capp. (I think Starbucks makes a good capp.) I don't like lattes since they have too much milk and that is what Starbucks is known for. It just seems silly to me to get coffee with so much milk. It's like a glass of hot milk with essence of coffee. (Plus, it doesn't help that I am lactose intolerant.)

When I was in high school, we used to go to the original Starbucks in Seattle. It was the only one in the world at that time, and it had a rather risque logo showing a mermaid with her rather ample breasts exposed. Starbucks............YUCK!!!! It was completely different than the stores are now. It was a sort of counter culture hangout, the only place in town where you could get whole beans. The counters were hewn wood and everyone carved their initials in them. And they had huge glass jars lining the wall behind the counter, filled with teas from all over the world. I used to love to go there and get an exotic tea and bring a sack of tea leaves home with me. Now they serve chain tea in bags there. Starbucks............YUCK!!!! And the stores seem so sterile and clinical. Just not the same. I feel old, longing for the "good old days." Starbucks............YUCK!!!!

Caribou Coffee is my favorite chain coffeeshop... I worked at DD for 2-3 years and YUCK. I can tolerate it but I'd rather not.

Actually I'm not supposed to have caffeine because of heart stuff, but lol, who listens to their doctor about important stuff like that? :P

I only drink regular coffee, black. I do not like flavored coffees.

One time I went into Charbucks to buy a muffin to go. I bought a newspaper, walked across the parking lot to McDonalds, bought a cup of great coffee, and sat down there to eat.

You want some strong stuff, try expresso in Italy.......that little tiny cup holds the spoon straight up by itself. You have to add an equal amount of sugar just to be able to drink it. The places where they roast the beans in Italy smells like burning tires....

That makes starbucks taste wonderful in comparison....lol.

Actually, I only like their speciality drinks ....in the fall, their Pumpkin Latte is to die for.....but this year, they didn't have the wonderful pumpkin muffins (in California) to go with it.....I used to live for those muffins.

I do buy their ground coffee at times & brew it myself....but I go for decaf anything in the first place......at home, their ground coffees taste wonderful.....but then I have always been a do it yourselfer.

I bought my husband a coffee roaster Christmas before last but we usually order 5 pounds of whole beans from a roaster in the San Francisco Area, http://www.peerlesscoffee.com every other month. We haven't been able to find the quality of the roast we like anywhere else.

Debbie,

Check out Panera Bread Cafe & Bakery for great pumpkin muffins. Regular coffee is good, too, but I don't know about the fancy ones. They have locations nationwide.

mmm... I love pumpkin muffins! I don't particularly like anything else at Panera, but they just opened one within walking distance of my house so maybe I'll stop in to see if they have the muffins! Thanks for the tip!
